Luiz Bandeira Bridge: Assessment of a Historical Reinforced Concrete (RC) Bridge [PDF]
The Luiz Bandeira Bridge is located along the Portuguese national road EN333-3, breaching the valley of the Vouga River, just northeast of the small village Sejães, in the district of Oliveira de Frades. It is considered to be the oldest concrete bridge in use in Portugal, and one of the oldest in Europe.

ABSTRACT Objective To produce a consensus statement on the psychological treatment of feeding/eating aversions seen in pediatric feeding disorder (PFD) and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), diagnoses that share common symptoms and psychological mechanisms but have historically been addressed separately in the literature. Method To help

Effect of Steel Fibers on the Behavior of Over-Reinforced Beams Subjected to Pure Torsion
The improvement in torsional properties of reinforced concrete (RC) is becoming extremely important in the modern day constructions. Over the years the steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) is being used for improving cracking characteristics of RC. The

“It was found that good ductility can be achieved in CFRP‐strengthened frames, and this result was validated through experimental testing.” ABSTRACT Reinforced concrete structures are increasingly vulnerable to deterioration by steel reinforcement corrosion, resulting in severe loss of fracture strength and service life, particularly in severe ...

ABSTRACT To enhance the structural robustness of bridges, a rocking arch‐shaped segmental pier with a double sliding system was previously proposed as a low‐cost solution to protect bridges in developing countries. The rocking behavior is triggered by halting the sliding motion, which increases the horizontal load‐bearing capacity and limits ...

Experimental Investigation of the Explosion Effects on Reinforced Concrete Slabs with Fibers
In today’s world, concrete structures are exposed to various influences, including explosive actions. With the increasing use of fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC), it is essential to investigate its response to blast effects.

Cyclic behavior of GFRP strengthened infilled RC frames with low and normal strength concrete
This paper presents the experimental behavior of plane, non-strengthened and glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) strengthened infilled reinforced concrete (RC) frames with low strength concrete (LSC) and normal strength concrete (NSC) under lateral ...

An SSI‐Informed Design for Tuned Mass Dampers With Small‐to‐Large Mass Ratios
ABSTRACT Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs) are used to mitigate structural vibrations induced by seismic or wind excitation, by tuning the device to the system's dominant resonant frequencies. However, the TMD effectiveness can be undermined by soil‐structure interaction, which can lead to elongation of the vibration periods and to combined translational ...
