The Environmental Cost of Development in a Biodiversity Hotspot

open access: yesConservation Letters, Volume 19, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
ABSTRACT Global infrastructure development is reshaping tropical environments, yet its biodiversity consequences remain poorly quantified. We assess the ecological implications of Mexico's Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT), a transcontinental megaproject linking transportation between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans across a ...

What Works for Older Adults to Reduce Problematic Alcohol Use: A Delphi Study on Elements and Mechanisms in Interventions

open access: yesDrug and Alcohol Review, Volume 45, Issue 6, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Understanding elements for older adults to reduce their problematic alcohol use is important for the development of interventions. Diagnosing Post‐Wildfire Flood Governance Gaps Through a Values–Rules–Knowledge Lens: A Case Study From Kineta, Greece

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 19, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Post‐wildfire flash floods are an escalating climate‐driven hazard. Advanced technical modelling can now inform impact assessments and evaluate interventions to mitigate these risks, yet such analyses are often not supported by adequate governance frameworks to facilitate the implementation of the proposed solutions.

Testing coir (coconut) fiber as a novel, biodegradable material for coral reef restoration: coir interactions with larval and juvenile corals

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 7, September 2026.
Abstract Introduction Coral populations have declined in recent decades, largely due to anthropogenic climate change. In response, coral restoration projects are being implemented, and rubble stabilization is one such approach. Rubble beds form when dead coral fragments accumulate on the seafloor and can be mobilized by water flow.
