Human‐in‐the‐Loop Swarms: A Bionic Swarm Approach to Real‐World Soil Mapping
This article introduces the “Bionic Swarm,” a novel system that lowers the barriers to real‐world swarm validation by abstracting difficult hardware tasks to app‐guided human agents. We demonstrate the system's utility through the experimental validation of a geotechnical soil‐mapping swarm algorithm and show superior performance to baseline approaches

A Two‐Stage Characterization Pipeline and Open‐Source Framework for Reproducible Tactile Sensing
The same soft tactile sensor returns different numbers when embodied in different robots. This is an Embodiment Gap that no shared framework currently captures transparently. A two‐stage characterization pipeline, paired with a FAIR open‐source digital datasheet, decouples intrinsic sensor behavior from embodiment effects and condenses cross‐laboratory

A Language‐Guided Multimodal Foundation Model for Zero‐Shot and Multi‐Task Brain Signal Analysis
METIS aligns brain signals with natural‐language instructions to enable zero‐shot and multi‐task brain signal analysis. Pretrained on over 70 000 h of EEG and iEEG recordings, it generalizes across sleep stage classification, epilepsy detection, and neurological disorder diagnosis, providing a scalable foundation model for clinically meaningful brain ...

Dimensions of the AI Divide: Digital Inequality and Psychological Consequences
ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a foundational component of contemporary social, economic, and political life. Yet, the ways in which AI reshapes patterns of exclusion beyond questions of access and technical capability remain insufficiently theorized.

Vernacular Futurism: How Persian Language Users Imagine AI
ABSTRACT Public discourse about artificial intelligence increasingly unfolds through compressed forecasts, moral warnings, and everyday speculation circulating at platform speed. This study examines how Persian language users on X construct and contest AI futures, analyzing a corpus of 4741 posts collected between January 2023 and December 2025, with ...

Bamboo as reinforcement in structural concrete
Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021Abstract Reinforcing steel used in reinforced concrete all over the world is very expansive that leads to the proposal of using bamboo as a reinforcement in concrete in terms of culms or strips. Due to the high cost of steel, the need for a more sustainable and effective alternative that will be relatively cheaper becomes an important issue in the ...

Minimum-Cost Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures
Civil-Comp Proceedings, 1990Abstract The aim of this paper is to obtain minimum-cost designs of reinforced concrete structures in conformity with the requirements of the Australian Standard AS3600-1988. The minimum cost structure is such that all its appropriate functional states (stability, strength, serviceability, durability and fire resistance) are within the allowable ...
