The Inhomogeneous Reionization Times of Present-day Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Today's galaxies experienced cosmic reionization at different times in different locations. For the first time, reionization ($50\%$ ionized) redshifts, $z_R$, at the location of their progenitors are derived from new, fully-coupled radiation-hydrodynamics simulation of galaxy formation and reionization at $z > 6$, matched to N-body simulation to z = 0.

Semi-Numerical Simulation of Reionization with Semi-Analytical Modeling of Galaxy Formation

open access: yes, 2012
In a semi-numerical model of reionization, the evolution of ionization fraction is simulated approximately by the ionizing photon to baryon ratio criterion.

Lyα Emission at z = 7–13: Clear Evolution of Lyα Equivalent Width Indicating a Late Cosmic Reionization History

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present the evolution of Ly α emission derived from 53 galaxies at z = 6.6–13.2, which have been identified by multiple JWST/NIRSpec spectroscopy programs of Early Release Science, General Observer, Director's Discretionary Time, and Guaranteed Time ...

Characterizing the epoch of reionization with the small-scale CMB: Constraints on the optical depth and duration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Patchy reionization leaves a number of imprints on the small-scale cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature fluctuations, the largest of which is the kinematic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (kSZ), the Doppler shift of CMB photons scattering off moving ...

The Imprint of Cosmic Reionization on Galaxy Clustering

open access: yes, 2007
We consider the effect of reionization on the clustering properties of galaxy samples at intermediate redshifts (z~0.3-5.5). Current models for the reionization of intergalactic hydrogen predict that overdense regions will be reionized early, thus ...

Cosmic Reionization in the JWST Era: Back to AGNs?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Deep surveys with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) have revealed an emergent population of moderate-luminosity, broad-line active galactic nuclei (AGNs) at 4 ≲ z ≲ 13 powered by accretion onto early massive black holes.

A study of simulated histories of reionization with merger trees of HII regions

open access: yes, 2012
We describe a new methodology to analyze the reionization process in numerical simulations: the chronology and the geometry of reionization is investigated by means of merger histories of individual HII regions.

Reconstruction of Cosmological Initial Density Field with Observations from the Epoch of Reionization

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The initial density distribution provides a basis for understanding the complete evolution of cosmological density fluctuations. While reconstruction in our local Universe exploits the observations of galaxy surveys with large volumes, observations of ...
