Model adaptivity for finite element analysis of thin or thick plates based on equilibrated boundary stress resultants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to address error-controlled adaptive finite element (FE) method for thin and thick plates. A procedure is presented for determining the most suitable plate model (among available hierarchical plate models) for each ...

Static and free vibration analyses of laminated composite shells by cell-based smoothed discrete shear gap method (CS-DSG3) using three-node triangular elements

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2018
A cell-based smoothed discrete shear gap method (CS-DSG3) using three-node triangular elements was recently proposed to improve the performance of the discrete shear gap method (DSG3) for static and free vibration analyses of isotropic Reissner-Mindlin ...

Robust equilibrated a posteriori error estimators for the Reissner-Mindlin system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We consider a conforming finite element approximation of the Reissner-Mindlin system. We propose a new robust a posteriori error estimator based on H(div) conforming finite elements and equilibrated fluxes.

Free vibration analysis of reissner-mindlin plates by a modified linked interpolation element/Reissner-mindlin plokštelių laisvųjų svyravimų analizė taikant modifikuotą mišrios formuluotės elementą

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 1999
Šiame darbe atlikta plokštelių laisųjų svyravimų analizė, taikant mišrios formuluotės elementą Q4BLa. Taikant klasikinę Kirchoffo plokštelių teoriją, elementų interpoliacinės funkcijos turi atitikti C1 tolydumo reikalavimus.

A Gradient Stable Node-Based Smoothed Discrete Shear Gap Method for Analysis of Reissner–Mindlin Plates

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
In this paper, a gradient stable node-based smoothed discrete shear gap method (GS-DSG) using 3-node triangular elements is presented for Reissner–Mindlin plates in elastic-static, free vibration, and buckling analyses fields.

An asymptotic Reissner–Mindlin plate model

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2018
A mathematical study via variational convergence of a periodic distribution of classical linearly elastic thin plates softly abutted together shows that it is not necessary to use a different continuum model nor to make constitutive symmetry hypothesis as starting points to deduce the Reissner–Mindlin plate model.

On composite shell models with a piecewise linear warping function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A multilayered shell model accounting for a piecewise linear (i.e. zig-zag) distribution of displacements through the laminate thickness is discussed.

Assessment of Theories for Free Vibration Analysis of Homogeneous and Multilayered Plates

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2004
This paper assesses classical and advanced theories for free vibrational response of homogeneous and multilayered simply supported plates. Closed form solutions are given for thick and thin geometries.

Shear-corrected Reissner-Mindlin plate model [PDF]

open access: yesComposite Structures, 2019
Abstract A new shear-corrected Reissner-Mindlin model is presented. The method reduces the modeling error of the classical model without affecting the form of the classical plate equations. Therefore, implementation on an existing software for the Reissner-Mindlin plate model is simple.

A posteriori error estimate for Reissner-Mindlin plates: verification of implementations and numerical testing

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics, 2019
Work is devoted to analysis of a posteriori error estimate for accuracy control of approximate solutions for problems of Reissner-Mindlin plates bending.
