Effect of Temperature Dropping during Solution Treatment in Rejuvenation Heat Treatment and its Long-Term Heating Simulation on Microstructures of Nickel Base Alloy, Udimet 520

Materials Science Forum, 2017
Udimet 520 is a low precipitation strengthened nickel-based superalloy, which was designed and developed to be gas turbine blades at elevated temperatures. However, after long-term service under high stresses and temperatures, the microstructure of the turbine blades could be continually degraded.

The metallurgical background to rejuvenation heat treatments and weld reparability procedures for gas turbine sheet metal components

Materials at High Temperatures, 2001
AbstractSheet materials for hot gas path components in modern land based gas turbines demand high strength over the temperature range 650–950°C and freedom from serious in-service embrittlement. This is particularly critical where a gas turbine is subject to cycling since thermal stresses can lead to the cracking of such components.

Morphological evolution of γ′ precipitate under various rejuvenation heat treatment cycles in a damaged nickel‐based superalloy

Rare Metals, 2016
Abstract The morphological evolution of γ′ precipitates for a damaged nickel‐based superalloy GTD‐111 under different rejuvenation heat treatments (RHTs) was investigated. The degenerated γ′ precipitates can be completely dissolved into the γ matrix under the full solution condition of 1200 °C/2 h, and only fine γ′ precipitates re ...

Rejuvenation procedures to recover creep properties of nickel-base superalloys by heat treatment and hot isostatic pressing techniques

Journal of Materials Science, 1991
The rejuvenation procedures to recover the creep properties of nickel-base superalloys by atmospheric pressure heat treatment and hot isostatic pressing techniques have been reviewed in detail. It is very important that such treatments be applied at an optimum stage in the service life of a turbine blade.
