Essential and relational models

Mathematical Structures in Computer Science, 2015
Intersection type assignment systems can be used as a general framework for building logical models of λ-calculus that allow to reason about the denotation of terms in a finitary way. We defineessentialmodels (a new class of logical models) through a parametric type assignment system using non-idempotent intersection types.

Distribution Models Of Relations

Fifth International Conference on Very Large Data Bases, 1979., 1979
We show how relations can be modelled in fast memory by a distribution of tuples in a multidimensional space. Given distributions for operand relations we derive distributions for the relations that result from applying the relational algebra. We apply the result for the natural join to optimize the evaluation of an expression involving two joins.

Modelling capabilities of fuzzy relational models

The 12th IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2003. FUZZ '03., 2004
The paper considers the types of non-linear dynamic systems that can be modeled ideally using a fuzzy relational model. It is shown that it is possible to find values of the rule confidences that guarantee there are no prediction errors at the centres or the input sets, if the behaviour of the non-linear dynamic system can be described by a Hammerstein

Transformation of relational model to RDF model

2008 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2008
The vision of the semantic Web is to give data on the Web a well-defined meaning by representing it in RDF and linking it to commonly accepted ontologies. Today, most data are stored in relational databases. To be able to use these data on the semantic Web we need a flexible but easy to use mechanism to convert relational data to RDF data.

Additive models: Extensions and related models [PDF]

open access: possible, 2012
We give an overview over smooth back tting type estimators in additive models. Moreover we illustrate their wide applicability in models closely related to additive models such as nonparametric regression with dependent error variables where the errors can be transformed to white noise by a linear transformation, nonparametric regression with ...

Relating models of polymorphism

Proceedings of the 16th ACM SIGPLAN-SIGACT symposium on Principles of programming languages - POPL '89, 1989
A new general notion of model for the polymorphic lambda calculus based on the simple idea of a universe, is proposed. Although impossible in nonconstructive set theory, the notion is unproblematic for constructive sets, yields completeness and initiality theorems, and can be used to unify and relate many different notions of model that have been ...

A straightforward formalization of the relational model

Information Systems, 1983
There has been a lot of recent interest in the formalization of the relational data model (RDM). Many approaches may be characterized as ones oriented mainly towards declaring the components of the RDM and their interrelationships. Other approaches provide a tool for manipulating the components of RDM so that research topics on the model can be ...

A universal relation model for nested relations

1988
The Universal Relation (UR) model has been researched with the ultimate objective to free the user from logical navigation in a relational database. There have been many different suggestions as to how to implement a UR interface. Nested relations have been recently suggested as a way of extending the applicability of the classical relational model. In
