The Economic Foundations of Demographic Transition [PDF]
The paper develops a general equilibrium model where population sources, such as fertility and mortality rates, are chosen variables. It is shown that the evolution of population over time depends on income and relative prices of mortality and fertility ...

Growth analysis of two Brachiaria brizantha (A. Rich.) Stapf. (Poaceae) cultivars [PDF]
This study was carried out with the aim of comparing the growth and primary yield of two cultivars of Brachiaria brizantha through growth analysis.

Problems for a fundamental theory of house prices [PDF]
We describe a simple model of the demand for housing and show that on a balanced growth path the rate at which the relative price of housing changes over time is determined by the relative productivity growth rates of the housing sector and the rest of ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Effects of Financial Development on Convergence: Theory and Evidence [PDF]
We introduce imperfect creditor protection in a multi-country version of Schumpeterian growth theory with technology transfer. The theory predicts that the growth rate of any country with more than some critical level of financial development will ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

The relative growth rate for partial quotients
We look at the rate of growth of the partial quotients of the infinite continued fraction expansion of an irrational number relative to the rate of approximation of the number by its convergents. In non-generic cases the Hausdorff dimension of some exceptional sets is computed.
