Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

An approach to a field drainage problem by laboratory examination of selected properties of undisturbed soil cores : thesis presented at Massey University of Manawatu in part fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Agricutural Science [PDF]

open access: yes, 1964
For many years, soil drainage investigators, from a practical view point, have had to content themselves with expert appraisal of certain direct and indirect soil and environmental characteristics in order to ascertain the cause of a particular drainage ...

Stabilization of Miscible Aqueous Phases via Diffusion‐Controlled Multifunctional Nanoparticle‐Ligand Complexation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a versatile approach to harnessing miscible aqueous domains, enabling liquid‐in‐liquid compartmentalization using a barrier formed in situ rather than bulk immiscibility. The barrier forms upon the complexation of multifunctional nanoparticles and ligands at the contact boundary of aqueous phases.

Relative Permeability of Fractured Rock [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Contemporary understanding of multiphase flow through fractures is limited. Different studies using synthetic fractures and various fluids have yielded different relative permeability-saturation relations. This study aimed to extend the understanding of multiphase flow by conducting nitrogen-water relative permeability experiments on a naturally ...

Hyaluronic acid alters vessel behavior in CXCL12-treated HUVECs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a key component of the extracellular matrix known for absorbing water, swelling, and altering solid stress of tumors. HA’s anionic behavior may provide important biochemical effects toward tumor progression as well.

Magnetic Force Microscopy Signatures of Higher‐Order Skyrmions and Antiskyrmions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic force microscopy operated under vacuum conditions enables the qualitative identification of higher‐order skyrmions and antiskyrmions in Co/Ni multilayers at room temperature. Distinct stray‐field contrast signatures arise from vertical Bloch lines and complex domain‐wall configurations.

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Deciphering Small Molecule Diffusion Parameters Across Light Responsive Polymersome Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light‐responsive polymersomes bearing donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASAs) enable programmable control over small‐molecule transport across synthetic membranes. By systematically varying DASA density, an optimal functionalization regime is identified that maximizes light‐gated permeability.

Linking Scales in Multiphase Flow: A Framework Incorporating Data‐Driven Methods for Predicting Relative Permeability

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Accurate prediction of relative permeability is essential for continuum‐scale simulations of multiphase flow in porous media. This study presents a workflow that couples a thermodynamic model with a data‐driven approach to estimate relative permeability ...

Wettability Alteration of Oil- Wet and Water-Wet of Iranian Heavy Oil Reservoir by CuO Nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2017
The petroleum industry requires the best materials to reverse the rock wettability to water-wet state which give significantly improved oil recovery.Nanoparticles are suggested as enhanced oil recovery potential agents to decrease viscosity and alter the
