Relative Permeability from Centrifuge Data

SPE California Regional Meeting, 1986
ABSTRACT The drainage of a wetting phase (say oil) by a non-wetting phase (say gas) may be simulated in the centrifuge by two liquids. Such experiments were conducted on a number of cores and they are discussed in a companion paper. In this paper we consider two of the cores with available capillary pressure data.

Relative Permeability Studies

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1951
Abstract Relative wetting phase permeabilities calculated from capillarypressure-saturation data are compared with measured relative permeability data. The equation relating relative permeability to capillary pressure-saturationdata is derived by assuming that a porous medium is analogous to a bundle ofcapillary ...

Effect of temperature on relative permeability – Role of viscosity ratio

, 2020
Although there are many studies regarding the effect of temperature on relative permeability, there is no consensus on this issue. Here we examine the role of oil/water viscosity ratio in making the measured oil/water relative permeability dependent on ...

A Hybrid Approach for the Prediction of Relative Permeability Using Machine Learning of Experimental and Numerical Proxy SCAL Data

, 2020
Accurate estimation of relative permeability is one of the key parameters for decision making in upstream applications from project appraisal to field development and evaluation of various field development options.

Relative Permeability From Thermodynamics

SPE Journal, 2004
Summary A new theory is reviewed for single-component, two-phase flow in porous media. It integrates thermodynamics with fluid mechanics and includes wettability in the thermodynamic description. It does not make use of the relative permeability concept.

Experimental investigation into the relative permeability of gas and water in low-rank coal

Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 2019
Understanding the relative permeability characteristics of coal in a gas-water system is crucial for coalbed methane development. Due to a lack of experimental information on the gas-water relative permeability of coal, the relative permeability of the ...

Relative Permeability in Coal

Proceedings of SPE Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference, 1996
Abstract Relative permeability is a primary parameter for determining the reservoir behaviour of coal seams. We present numerous relative permeability curves measured in the laboratory as well as curves from numerically matching field performance.

Modeling temperature-based oil-water relative permeability by integrating advanced intelligent models with grey wolf optimization: Application to thermal enhanced oil recovery processes

Fuel, 2019
Relative permeability is an indispensable parameter that is involved in many sensitive tasks related to reservoir studies. Due to this fact, there is increasing interest about methods that can accurately capture the temperature effect on relative ...

Review of the effect of temperature on oil-water relative permeability in porous rocks of oil reservoirs

Fuel, 2019
Thermal methods of heavy oil recovery involve multiphase flow at high temperatures. Numerical simulation studies of such processes require accounting for changes in the multi-phase flow behavior of the rock-fluid system with increasing temperature ...

Relative permeability of three immiscible fluids in random porous media determined by the lattice Boltzmann method

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
In this article, three immiscible fluids flowing in 3D porous media were simulated by the pseudopotential-based multiple relaxation time lattice Boltzmann model for multicomponent/multiphase flow, and the effects of capillary number (Ca), wettability and
