Effects of Biological Sex and Age on Cerebrospinal Fluid Markers—A Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is a key diagnostic tool for neurological diseases. To date, only a few studies have investigated in larger cohorts the effect of age and biological sex on diagnostic markers extracted from CSF. Methods For this retrospective observational study, 4163 CSF findings (2012–2020) were evaluated.

Research progress on the method of determining gas–water relative permeability curve in unconventional reservoirs

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology
Unconventional reservoirs have unique characteristics such as low porosity, low permeability, complex pore structure, and strong heterogeneity. Conventional gas–water relative permeability curve determination methods no longer apply to unconventional ...

An Estimation of Multiphase Relative Permeabilities in Reservoir Cores from Micro-CT Data [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Science and Technology, 2019
With significant increase of tomographic equipment power, demand for Prediction relative permeability prediction Predicting in porous media from digital image data. In this work, it is predicted three -phase relative permeabilities with co-applying Darcy’

Variation of tow force with velocity during offshore ploughing in granular materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Pipeline plough behaviour has been investigated by means of reduced scale physical model testing. A testing programme was devised to investigate the influence of permeability, relative density, and plough depth on the associated tow force measured ...

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Mutations in M2 alter the selectivity of the mouse nicotinic acetylcholine receptor for organic and alkali metal cations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We measured the permeability ratios (PX/PNa) of 3 wild-type, 1 hybrid, 2 subunit-deficient, and 22 mutant nicotinic receptors expressed in Xenopus oocytes for alkali metal and organic cations using shifts in the bi-ionic reversal potential of the ...

Choroid Plexus Enlargement and USPIO‐Based Inflammatory Feature in Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The choroid plexus (CP) is a key component of the blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB), but its mechanism of action in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. This study investigated CP volume (CPV) alterations and their association with conventional imaging markers in CSVD and explored the underlying role of ...

Insulator superconductor transition on solid inert gas substrates

open access: yes, 2002
We present observations of the insulator-superconductor transition in ultrathin films of Bi on solid xenon condensed on quartz and on Ge on quartz. The relative permeability $\epsilon_{r}$ ranges from 1.5 for Xe to 15 for Ge.

Neurovascular Contacts in the Pathophysiology of Neuralgic Amyotrophy: An Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neuralgic amyotrophy (NA) is a prevalent, monophasic, multifocal immune‐mediated neuropathy. A distinctive characteristic of the disease is the occurrence of nerve or fascicle constrictions and torsions (NA‐associated focal nerve lesions, NAFL). The pathophysiology underlying this phenomenon remains to be fully elucidated.

An Analytical Equation to Predict Oil-Gas-Water Three-Phase Relative Permeability Curves in Fractures

open access: yesImproved Oil and Gas Recovery, 2017
As fractures are the major flow channels for multiphase flow in naturally and hydraulically fractured reservoirs, the accurate prediction of multiphase flow in fractures is highly important.
