Determining the relative permittivity of masses in the human body

Proceedings of the 2012 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation, 2012
This paper introduces a new method for in-vivo determination of the dielectric properties for embedded regions in human tissues. A surgery-free method is proposed for on-body monitoring system to evaluate the dielectric properties of internal body components (lung, heart etc) and to effectively determine irregularities in real-time.

Study of Dielectric Media with Relatively High Permittivity

Colloid Journal, 2001
The electrophysical characteristics of composite media consisting of finely dispersed T-10 000 ferroelectric ceramics and dielectric fluids are experimentally investigated. Transformer oil, dibutyl phthalate, cyclohexanol, and sulfolane are used as dielectric fluids. The permittivity of compositions e is directly proportional to that of the fluids. Its

A Review of Empirical Methods to Estimate Relative Permittivity

2018 17th International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), 2018
Four empirical models to estimate the relative permittivity of soil are tested based on a new database of relative permittivity measurements on soils. The selected models are Topp et. al. CRIM, SMDM, and GRMDM. The new database of relative permittivity measurements consists of 124 measurements on five different soils measured at a range of porosities ...

Modelling the relative permittivity of anisotropic insulating composites

Composites Science and Technology, 2011
Three models have been developed for predicting the dielectric permittivity of insulating composites with inclusions of different lengths (from nm and larger) and different shapes. Firstly, for approximately periodic materials, a finite element model based on a smallest repeating box method was used in order to mimic frameworks with fibres, crystals ...

Equations for Complex Relative Permittivity of Saline Water

IETE Technical Review, 1988
Equations hare been presented to calculate the complex relative permittivity of saline water as a function of salt content and temperature of water. The results obtained from these equations show good agreement with the published measured data.

Basic principles of the calculation of the relative permittivity

1998
Abstract From the preliminary discussion in Chapter 1 it is dear that the calculation of the relative permittivity, E, in terms of molecular parameters requires a study of the manner in which a vast number of particles react to the imposition of an external electric field.

Frequency Dependence Examination of PCB Material FR4 Relative Permittivity

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2013
Abstract At the microwave frequencies high requirements are put on the materials for construction of final devices. A number of dielectric substrates are available for microstrip technologies but the prices of these materials are directly proportional to their good dielectric features.

Relative Permittivity of Polar Liquids. Comparison of Theory, Experiment, and Simulation

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2005
A molecular-based second-order perturbation theory is applied to calculate the relative permittivity of polar liquids. Our basic model is the dipolar hard sphere fluid. The main purpose of this work is to propose various approaches to take into account the molecular polarizability.

Complex relative permittivity analysis for monitoring watermelon

2017 International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (ISAP), 2017
This paper proposes a study of complex relative permittivity (∊ r =∊ r ′-j∊ r ″) for monitoring watermelon. The complex relative permittivity of peel and pulp are analyzed as variation of maturity stages and used for determining mature fruit of watermelon from the measured reflection coefficient.

Frequency dependence of the relative permittivity of polar substances

Proceedings of the Physical Society, 1964
A study of the Brownian motion of a dipolar molecule surrounded by a dispersive dielectric medium has resulted in the following generalization of Onsager's equation ( - ∞)(2* + ∞)(2 + 1)/3(2* + 1) = (4πNμ2/3kTV)((∞ + 2)2/9)(1/(1+iωτμ')) where τμ' is a microscopic relaxation time which includes the effect of dipole-dipole coupling.
