Measurements of Microstrip Effective Relative Permittivities

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1987
This paper presents normalized wide-bandwidth measurements of microstrip effective relative pemrittivities (epsilon/sub eff/) which were made on large-scale microstrip models. The experimental techniques are discussed, and the data are compared to the predictions of two recent closed-form design equations.

Relative permittivity detector for cable insulators

PowerCon 2000. 2000 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX409), 2002
This paper presents a new measurement technique of relative permittivity (/spl epsi//sub r/) for cable insulators. The travelling wave and reflection wave theory are applied to generate low voltage pulse signal feeding cable lines that need to know /spl epsi//sub r/ of insulators.

Electrical conductivity and relative permittivity of KHCO3

Physica Status Solidi (a), 1994
The electrical conductivity σ and the relative permittivity (κ) as function of temperature 300 K < T < 400 K are measured and presented for potassium hydrogen carbonate KHCO3. It seems likely that the compound undergoes tow structural phase transitions at ≈ 318 and ≈ 365 K.

The Contemporary Definition of Complex Relative Permittivity

Journal of ASTM International, 2008
Abstract ASTM D150 [Standard Test Methods for AC Loss Characteristic and Permittivity (Dielectric Constant) of Solid Electrical Insulation, 2004] is the standard for measurement of alternating current (AC). Aimed at an analysis of this standard and proceeding from the information transmission characteristic of the dielectric, the ...

Variation of the relative permittivity of charged dielectrics

Applied Physics Letters, 1998
The variation of the relative permittivity of charged dielectrics with trapped charge density has been investigated by a time-resolved current method, in conjunction with a mirror image method employing a scanning electron microscope. The calculation is made by a mathematical expression derived from classical electromagnetic theory.

Static relative permittivity of electrolyte solutions

Electrochimica Acta, 1988
Abstract An equation has been derived for the calculation of static relative permittivity in concentrated electrolyte solutions, which takes into account both the volume exclusion by the ions and the effect of dielectric saturation caused by the strong electric field of the ions.

The permittivity of thermodynamically ideal liquid mixtures and the excess relative permittivity of binary dielectrics

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2009
The ideal relative permittivity of liquid mixtures is demonstrated to be a volume-fraction-weighted average of the pure-component relative permittivities. This generalised-thermodynamics result is used to define the molar electric dipole, permittivity, dielectric polarization and electric susceptibility of thermodynamically ideal liquid mixtures and ...

A Review of Empirical Methods to Estimate Relative Permittivity

2018 17th International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), 2018
Four empirical models to estimate the relative permittivity of soil are tested based on a new database of relative permittivity measurements on soils. The selected models are Topp et. al. CRIM, SMDM, and GRMDM. The new database of relative permittivity measurements consists of 124 measurements on five different soils measured at a range of porosities ...

Polarization Effects of Fluorine on the Relative Permittivity in Polyimides

Macromolecules, 1994
The effect of fluorine incorporation on dielectric properties has been studied for a series of polyimides in order to distinguish between several contributing mechanisms to the generally observed decrease in the relative permittivity. Using low-frequency capacitance measurements after exhaustive in situ drying, in conjunction with refractive index ...
