Refitted relative permittivity of melanin with a Lorentzian function.
A Real part of the relative permittivity of melanin. B Imaginary part of the relative permittivity of melanin. The real part of represents the refractive index of melanin and the imaginary part of εr represents the absorption of melanin.

Determination of the Permittivity of Transmission Lines at Milli-Kelvin Temperatures
Many quantum technologies rely heavily on propagation of RF and microwave signals through devices at cryogenic temperatures, and detailed understanding of materials and signal propagation is therefore key to improving the performance of quantum circuits.

Light scattering by magnetoelectrically gyrotropic sphere with unit relative permittivity and relative permeability [PDF]
An exact transition matrix was formulated for electromagnetic scattering by a sphere made of a magnetoelectrically gyrotropic material with unit relative permittivity and relative permeability. The total scattering and forward scattering efficiencies are lower when the magnetoelectric gyrotropy vector of the sphere is either coparallel or antiparallel ...

Imaging the Permittivity of Thin Film Materials by Using Scanning Capacitance Microscopy
Recently, great advances had been made by using scanning probe microscopy (SPM) to quantify the relative permittivity of thin film materials on a nanometer scale.

Relative permittivity in the electrical double layer from nonlinear optics [PDF]
Second harmonic generation (SHG) spectroscopy has been applied to probe the fused silica/water interface at pH 7 and the uncharged 11¯02 sapphire/water interface at pH 5.2 in contact with aqueous solutions of NaCl, NaBr, NaI, KCl, RbCl, and CsCl as low as several 10 μM. For ionic strengths up to about 0.1 mM, the SHG responses were observed to increase,

Relative Permittivity of Stockmayer-Type Model Fluids from MD Simulations and COFFEE
The relative permittivity is a property that depends on the orientation structure of a fluid. Thus, using state-of-the-art equations of state it can be modeled only when using high level techniques, such as nonprimitive models.

In this work, the effect of changing the Li2MoO4-SrTiO3 (LMO-ST) compositional proportion (1–100 wt%) on the microstructure, dielectric properties, and relative density of LMO-ST composites fabricated at room temperature was investigated.

Measurement of the effective relative permittivities of microstrip
A new method for determining the effective relative permittivity of microstrip, even at high frequencies, is presented. Four microstrips having the same physical and geometric characteristics, but different lengths, are needed; the mismatch due to the launchers is completely overcome.

Distortion of electric field homogeneity between two thin toroidal electrodes by a dielectric sphere [PDF]
We assess the influence of a radius and a relative permittivity of an isotropic dielectric sphere on electric field homogeneity. The homogenous electric field is generated using two thin toroidal electrodes, charged by equal charges of opposite ...

The dielectric calibration of capacitance probes for soil hydrology using an oscillation frequency response model [PDF]
Capacitance probes are a fast, safe and relatively inexpensive means of measuring the relative permittivity of soils, which can then be used to estimate soil water content.
