The ideal relative permittivity of liquid mixtures is demonstrated to be a volume-fraction-weighted average of the pure-component relative permittivities. This generalised-thermodynamics result is used to define the molar electric dipole, permittivity, dielectric polarization and electric susceptibility of thermodynamically ideal liquid mixtures and ...

A Review of Empirical Methods to Estimate Relative Permittivity
2018 17th International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), 2018Four empirical models to estimate the relative permittivity of soil are tested based on a new database of relative permittivity measurements on soils. The selected models are Topp et. al. CRIM, SMDM, and GRMDM. The new database of relative permittivity measurements consists of 124 measurements on five different soils measured at a range of porosities ...

Polarization Effects of Fluorine on the Relative Permittivity in Polyimides
Macromolecules, 1994The effect of fluorine incorporation on dielectric properties has been studied for a series of polyimides in order to distinguish between several contributing mechanisms to the generally observed decrease in the relative permittivity. Using low-frequency capacitance measurements after exhaustive in situ drying, in conjunction with refractive index ...

Determining the relative permittivity of masses in the human body
Proceedings of the 2012 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation, 2012This paper introduces a new method for in-vivo determination of the dielectric properties for embedded regions in human tissues. A surgery-free method is proposed for on-body monitoring system to evaluate the dielectric properties of internal body components (lung, heart etc) and to effectively determine irregularities in real-time.

Equations for Complex Relative Permittivity of Saline Water
IETE Technical Review, 1988Equations hare been presented to calculate the complex relative permittivity of saline water as a function of salt content and temperature of water. The results obtained from these equations show good agreement with the published measured data.

The relative permittivity transition in solid camphor
Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1972Three-terminal measurements of capacitance and dissipation factor have been made on samples of d-camphor, dl-camphor and l-camphor at frequencies between 200 Hz and 10 kHz over the temperature range -196 degrees C to +20 degrees C. The dielectric relaxation processes in d-camphor, below the transition temperature, have been studied and the change in ...

Microfluidic Control Board for High-Pressure Flow, Composition, and Relative Permittivity.
Analytical Chemistry, 2018Flow control is central to microfluidics and chromatography. With decreasing dimensions and high pressures, precise fluid flows are often needed. In this paper, a high-pressure flow control system is presented, allowing for the miniaturization of ...
