Microfluidic Microwave Sensor Loaded with Star-Slotted Patch for Edible Oil Quality Inspection

open access: yesSensors, 2022
In this paper, we present a new microfluidic microwave sensor loaded with a star-slotted patch for detecting the quality of edible oil. The relative dielectric permittivity and the quality of edible oil will change after being heated at a high ...

Size-Dependent Bruggeman Approach for Dielectric-Magnetic Composite Materials

open access: yes, 2004
Expressions arising from the Bruggeman approach for the homogenization of dielectric-magnetic composite materials, without ignoring the sizes of the spherical particles, are presented. These expressions exhibit the proper limit behavior.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Image theory for a sphere with negative permittivity

open access: yes, 2019
An image system for a point charge outside a dielectric sphere is presented for all complex values of relative permittivity $\epsilon=\epsilon'+i\epsilon''$.

Influence of external factors on dielectric permittivity of Rochelle salt: humidity, annealing, stresses, electric field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The present work contains results of experimental investigation of external factors, such as dessicating/wetting, thermal annealing, uniaxial and hydrostatic pressures on dielectric permittivity of Rochelle salt crystals.

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Functional Materials for Environmental Energy Harvesting in Smart Agriculture via Triboelectric Nanogenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores functional and responsive materials for triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) in sustainable smart agriculture. It examines how particulate contamination and dirt affect charge transfer and efficiency. Environmental challenges and strategies to enhance durability and responsiveness are outlined, including active functional layers ...

Determination of constitutive and morphological parameters of columnar thin films by inverse homogenization

open access: yes, 2009
A dielectric columnar thin film (CTF), characterized macroscopically by a relative permittivity dyadic, was investigated theoretically with the assumption that, on the nanoscale, it is an assembly of parallel, identical, elongated ellipsoidal inclusions ...

Electrically Tunable On‐Chip Topological Photonics with Integrated Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates electrically tunable on‐chip topological THz devices by integrating 2D carbon nanotube (CNT) sheets with valley‐Hall photonic crystals, enabling broadband transmission modulation (71% modulation depth) and tunable narrowband filtering (0.54 GHz shift) through electrically induced thermal tuning. This advancement paves the way for
