Precise Relative Earthquake Magnitudes from Cross Correlation
Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 2015Abstract We present a method to estimate precise relative magnitudes using cross correlation of seismic waveforms. Our method incorporates the intercorrelation of all events in a group of earthquakes, as opposed to individual event pairings relative to a reference event. This method works well when a reliable reference event does not exist.

Precise relative rotation sensing using slow light
Chinese Physics B, 2010A novel relative rotation sensor based on slow light is proposed and analysed. A theoretical analysis shows that the high sensitivity of the proposed rotation sensor is achieved through an electromagnetically-induced-transparency medium. Unlike the tradition detection method, the idea of rotation sensing is to detect group delay between counter ...

High-Precision, Symplectic Numerical, Relative Orbit Propagation
Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 2007This paper presents a numerical method to propagate relative orbits. It can handle an arbitrary number of zonal and tesseral terms in the geopotential. This method relies on defining a relative Hamiltonian, which describes both the absolute and the relative motion of two satellites.

Precision Strike Concepts Exploiting Relative GPS Techniques
Navigation, 1994Many future weapons and weapon carriers are expected to have an avionics suite that includes an integrated INS/GPS set. This relatively inexpensive means of navigation motivates examination of whether very high accuracy (∼ 10 ft circular error probable [CEP]) may be obtainable using only this set of weapon avionics operating in either a relative or ...

Precise Relative Orbit Estimation of INSAT Missions
AIAA/AAS Astrodynamics Specialist Conference and Exhibit, 2004The increase in the use of geostationary satellite services calls for the number of geostationary satellites to be placed close to each other in the orbit leading to the colocation of satellites. Present trend in space communication development calls for keeping a number of clustered satellites in a specified formation to synthesize a large ...

Relativity studies with high-precision astrometry
SPIE Proceedings, 1998The last decade of the 20th century has seen the development of extremely sensitive instruments based on new emerging technologies. These instruments, which are widely distributed on Earth and currently being deployed in space, have provided the means necessary to prove more deeply into the nature and evolutionary history of the universe. Together with

Precise object-relative positioning for car-like robots
2016 IEEE 19th International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2016In this paper, we present a method for increasing the object-relative positioning precision of a car-like robot. In an outdoor environment and on an electric vehicle retrofitted with commercially available actuators, we achieve sub-centimeter and sub-degree accuracy, longitudinally and in heading, respectively. Most noteworthy, this is higher precision

High Precision Relative Positioning on a Mobile (poster)
Proceedings of the 17th Annual International Conference on Mobile Systems, Applications, and Services, 2019Although there are many commercial products and services advertising their capability of indoor navigation using smartphone, still the service coverage is highly restricted to the specific area due to tremendous effort on pre-survey and maintenance on positioning resources such as radio map of Wi-Fi signals.

The computation of relative motion with increased precision
Celestial Mechanics, 1976Encke's method as modified by Potter to increase the accuracy of orbit computations of gravitationally interacting bodies is applied to the problem of relative motion of non-interacting space vehicles. This technique is then combined with a simple transformation of the independent variable to arrive at a system of equations from which the relative ...

Design and Test of High Precision Relative Thermometer
2013 Fifth International Conference on Measuring Technology and Mechatronics Automation, 2013The relative thermometer is designed for monitoring the cave's temperature where the deformation instrument placed in. This paper mainly introduced the circuit design of the relative thermometer, discuss its theoretic error range and validate the reliability of measuring.
