Morpho-tectonic Assessment of the Abu-Dabbab Area, Eastern Desert, Egypt: Insights from Remote Sensing and Geospatial Analysis

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2021
The Abu-Dabbab area, located in the central part of the Egyptian Eastern Desert, is an active seismic region where micro-earthquakes (≈ML < 2.0) are recorded regularly. Earthquake epicenters are concentrated along an ENE–WSW trending pattern.

Relative tectonic activity assessment of the Çameli Basin, Western Anatolia, using geomorphic indices [PDF]

open access: yesGeodinamica Acta, 2016
Western Anatolia is one of the world’s most seismically active regions. A nearly N–S-oriented extension caused the formation of E–W- and NE–SW-trending major grabens, creating the potential for earthquakes with magnitudes ≥ 5. The fault segments of the NE-trending Cameli Basin were evaluated using geomorphic indices, common tools for assessment of ...

Morphotectonic Analysis of South Solok Area: Implication for Geothermal Manifestation and Relative Tectonic Activity

open access: yesJournal of Geology Sriwijaya, 2022
The distribution of geothermal energy in Indonesia reaches 40% of all Indonesia's geothermal reserves. Sapan Maluluang, South Solok is one of the areas that has a promising geothermal manifestation. This area has structural hills that surround the depression area which characterizes areas that have several geothermal surface manifestations.

Volcanic and Tectonic Sources of Seismicity Near the Tanaga Volcanic Cluster, Alaska

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2023
Tanaga Island in the Central Aleutian Islands includes four stratovolcanoes: Sajaka, Tanaga, and East Tanaga in the northwest, and Takawangha in the central part of the island. Of these volcanoes, only Tanaga has a confirmed record of historical eruptive

Evaluation of relative active tectonics by using geomorphic indices of the Bamo anticline, Zagros Fold-Thrust Belt, Kurdistan Region of Iraq

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
The Mountain Front Flexure forms a prominent morphotectonic structures along the Zagros Fold-Thrust Belt (ZFTB). It consists of several segments that defines tectonic salients and recessions within the belt.

Assessment of Relative Active Tectonics in the Bozgoush Basin (SW of Caspian Sea)

open access: yesOpen Journal of Marine Science, 2017
Geomorphic indices are useful tools for studying relative active tectonics of a specific area. In this study, the relative active tectonics of Bozgoush region (NW of Iran) has been investigated based on Geomorphic indices. The studied indexes include: the stream length-gradient (SL), hypsometric integral (Hi), the ratio of valley floor width to valley ...

Geomorphic signature of active tectonics in Simav Graben: An evaluation of indicator relative tectonic activity of Simav Fault and its seismotectonic implications for Western Anatolia

open access: yesJournal of Earth System Science, 2023
The main objective of this study is to analyze geomorphic landforms and quantitatively measure various geomorphic parameters to investigate the relative tectonic activity, vertical slip rate, and uplift rate of the Simav Fault. The Simav Fault, which is similar to 25 km long and morphologically composed of five mountain fronts forms the NW section of ...
