IMPROVEMENT OF THE METHOD FOR DETERMINING RELATIVE RAIL WEAR
Purpose. To evaluate the existing method of determining the relative wear of the rail in modern operating conditions of the railway track and to improve it. Methodology. An analysis of the existing method of determining the relative wear of rails was carried out to achieve the goal. 30 pieces of cross-sections of worn rails were processed.

Back to the edge: relative coordinate system for use-wear analysis [PDF]
Use-wear studies rely heavily on experiments and reference collections to infer the function of archeological artifacts. Sequential experiments, in particular, are necessary to understand how use-wear develops. Consequently, it is crucial to analyze the same location on the tool’s surface during the course of an experiment.

The effect of high wear diets on the relative pulp volume of the lower molars
AbstractObjectivesOne role of dental pulp is in the upkeep and maintenance of dentine. Under wear, odontoblasts in the pulp deposit tertiary dentine to ensure the sensitive internal dental tissues are not exposed and vulnerable to infection. It follows that there may be an adaptive advantage for increasing molar pulp volume in anthropoid primate taxa ...

Fretting wear of a TiN PVD coating under variable relative humidity conditions—development of a ‘composite’ wear law [PDF]
Fretting is defined as a small oscillatory displacement between two contacting bodies. The\ud interface is damaged by debris generation and its ejection from the contact area. The\ud application of hard coatings is an established solution to protect against fretting wear.

Paedodontic preformed crowns in primary teeth and relative degree of dental wear.
Prosthetic rehabilitation of deciduous teeth in paediatric age using pre-formed crowns has been considered one of the best methods of dental restoration since their introduction. Their main advantages are related to durability, longevity and a low rate of recurrent cavities.

Evaluation of the Effect of Relative Slip Ratio on Wear of Gear Teeth
Corrosion of the contact surfaces of gear teeth is directly related to slippage of the matingprocess. This occurs as a result of the material at the contact points slowly breaking and weakening as the mating teeth interact with each other. This process affects the sliding speed of the jointand the effective operation of the gears.

Influence of the relative enamel abrasivity of toothpastes (REA value) on the wear of eroded enamel
Eroded enamel is more susceptible to abrasion than healthy one. The present study aims to determine the impact of toothpaste abrasiveness (REA-value) and brushing force on enamel wear after erosion. 140 enamel samples from bovine teeth were divided into seven groups (N = 20).
