Artificial Neuron Based on Electrical Anisotropy from WSe2 Field Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An artificial neuron was realized based on the anisotropic mobility of WSe2. Dendritic and axon‐multisynaptic performance of a neuron was achieved with optical and voltage pulses. Recognition accuracy of handwritten digits was obtained to 97% based on the synaptic weight of an artificial neuron.

The Application of the Margin of Appreciation Doctrine in the Jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights [PDF]

open access: yesFaṣlnāmah-i Pizhūhish-i Huqūq-i ̒Umūmī, 2015
Jurists have expressed various propositions about the true nature of Margin of Appreciation Doctrine. Some believe that although application of the doctrine allows for exercise of human rights with having local cultural diversities in consideration ...

Philosophy and Disagreement

open access: yesCrítica, 2018
Disagreement as we find it in both the history and the contemporary practice of philosophy is an inadequately understood phenomenon. In this paper I outline and motivate the problem of disagreement, arguing that “hard cases” of disagreement confront us ...

Relativism and our warrant for scientific theories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We depend upon the community for justified belief in scientific theory. This dependence can suggest that our individual belief in scientific theory is justified because the community believes it to be justified.

A Quest for the Mechanism of Ultrahigh Resolution SEM Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using Monte Carlo simulations with explicit definitions of SE1 and SE2 align with a cascade secondary electron production model, this work shows that the 3D nanostructure modulated SE2 emission enhances other than to reduce topographical contrast via a “miniature Faraday cup” effect.

Large Anomalous Hall Effect, Non‐Vanishing Berry Curvature in (110) FeRh Antiferromagnet Films via Interface Strain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a strain‐tunable anomalous Hall response in the (110)‐oriented FeRh thin film. First‐principles calculations reveal that strain‐induced symmetry lowering redistributes Berry curvature near the Fermi level via band shifts and avoided crossings.

Epistemic modals and context: Experimental data

open access: yesSemantics and Pragmatics, 2014
Recently, a number of theorists (MacFarlane (2003, 2011), Egan, Hawthorne & Weatherson (2005), Egan (2007), Stephenson (2007a,b)) have argued that an adequate semantics and pragmatics for epistemic modals calls for some technical notion of relativist ...

Relativism and Tolerance Revisited [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper reviews arguments concerning the relation between relativism and tolerance, both whether tolerance entails relativism, and whether relativism entails tolerance. Two new arguments are offered to support the contention that there is no necessary

Semiconducting THO‐C3N Monolayers for Ultrahigh Anisotropic Carrier Mobility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A precise site‐specific N‐doping strategy that drives a secondary electronic transition in net W is proposed, enabling the electronic properties transition from metal to Dirac semimetal and ultimately to semiconductor. The obtained THO‐C3N‐2 and THO‐C3N‐3 semiconductors exhibit high carrier mobilities and pronounced mobility anisotropy, with THO‐C3N‐2 ...
