Particle production beyond the thermal model
The sources of particle production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions are investigated from RHIC to LHC energies. Whereas charged-hadron production in the fragmentation sources follows a ln(sNN/s0) law, particle production in the mid-rapidity low-x ...

“Relativistic” particle dynamics without relativity [PDF]
It is shown that the correct expressions for the momentum and kinetic energy of a particle moving at high speed were already implicit in physics going back to Maxwell. The demonstration begins with a thought experiment of Einstein by which he derived the inertial equivalence of energy, independently of the relativity postulates.

Our work reports that Li⁺ doping in CuInP2S₆ induces coexistence of high‐ and low‐polarization states, which fosters a rich spectrum of topological polar textures, such as bubbles and labyrinth domains. An unconventional flexoelectric effect is also discovered, where strain gradients can mechanically manipulate these polarization states and their ...

Renormalization properties of a Galilean Wess-Zumino model
We consider a Galilean N = 2 $$ \mathcal{N}=2 $$ supersymmetric theory with F-term couplings in 2 + 1 dimensions, obtained by null reduction of a relativistic Wess-Zumino model.

Diffraction and Smith-Purcell radiation on the hemispherical bulges in a metal plate
The radiation resulting from the uniform motion of a charged particle near a hemispheric bulge in a metal plane is considered. The description of the radiation process based on the method of images is developed for the case of non-relativistic particle ...

Combining machine learning and probabilistic statistical learning is a powerful way to discover and design new materials. A variety of machine learning approaches can be used to identify promising candidates for target applications, and causal inference can help identify potential ways to make them a reality.
