Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The role of anharmonic phonons in under-barrier spin relaxation of single molecule magnets

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
The use of single molecule magnets in mainstream electronics requires their magnetic moment to be stable over long times. One can achieve such a goal by designing compounds with spin-reversal barriers exceeding room temperature, namely with large ...

Structured relaxation in the treatment of akathisia: case series

open access: yes, 2010
Purpose: Akathisia remains a common side effect especially from antipsychotic medication. If the condition is diagnosed the management options are limited.Subjects/methodology: We tested a structured relaxation program on nine patients with adiagnosis of ...

Effects of structural relaxation on cationic tracer diffusion in silicate melts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The glass transition in silicate melts is a curve in time-temperature space marking the transition of the melt structure from an unrelaxed, disequilibrium glass to a relaxed, equilibrium liquid. Tracer diffusivity data obtained in glasses vs.

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Semidefinite programming relaxation based virtually antipodal detection for Gray coded 16-QAM MIMO signalling

open access: yes, 2011
An efficient semidefinite programming relaxation (SDPR) based virtually antipodal (VA) detection approach is proposed for Gray coded 16-QAM signalling over multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) channels.

Relaxation of thermal stress by dislocation motion in passivated metal interconnects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The development and relaxation of stress in metal interconnects strained by their surroundings (substrate and passivation layers) is predicted by a discrete dislocation analysis.

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.
