Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

The effect of immediate feedback during relaxation training on the process of systematic desensitization

open access: yes, 1971
In 1958, Joseph Wolpe published a formal statement on psychotherapy by reciprocal inhibition. The basis for this statement is simply that two incompatible responses cannot occur at the same time. Relaxation and anxiety are two such incompatible responses.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

FACILITATION OF ENGINE START DUE TO RELAXATION OF VIBRATION EXCITATION ENERGY IN AIR CHARGE [PDF]

open access: yesAvtomobilʹnyj Transport (Harʹkov), 2010
The influence of speed of relaxation process time of oscillation energy on the dynamics of change of the thermodynamics state of air charge during the compression is considered.

Frequency Dependent Rheology of Vesicular Rhyolite [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Frequency dependent rheology of magmas may result from the presence of inclusions (bubbles, crystals) in the melt and/or from viscoelastic behavior of the melt itself.

Tailoring Functional Properties of Ti–Ni–Cu Shape Memory Alloy Thin Films for MEMS Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A comprehensive study of critical parameters required to develop well‐performing Ti–Ni–Cu thin film shape memory alloy microactuators is provided. Materials science and device integration aspects are integrated by addressing structural and physical relationships using complementary characterization techniques as well as a practical fabrication solution

Effects of folding numbers, scoring depth and bending velocity on bending-moment relaxation of creased paperboard

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2014
This work deals with the time-dependent creasing characteristics of coated paperboard. The correlation between the bending strength (resistance) and time-dependent problems on the actual processing phenomenon has not been sufficiently discussed in the ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

A Review of Apps for Calming, Relaxation, and Mindfulness Interventions for Pediatric Palliative Care Patients

open access: yesChildren, 2018
Patients and families increasingly use mobile apps as a relaxation and distraction intervention for children with complex, chronic medical conditions in the waiting room setting or during inpatient hospitalizations; and yet, there is limited data on app ...
