Nonlinear modification of the laser noise power spectrum induced by a frequency-shifted optical feedback

open access: yes, 2016
In this article, we study the non-linear coupling between the stationary (i.e. the beating modulation signal) and transient (i.e. the laser quantum noise) dynamics of a laser subjected to frequency shifted optical feedback.

Chaotic relaxation oscillator

open access: yesIzvestiya VUZ. Applied Nonlinear Dynamics, 1994
The autonomous chaotic relaxation oscillator which is well-known blocking oscillator with one additional capacitor is investigated. It was studied experimentally that oscillator possesses chaotic dynamics in wide parameter region. Transition to chaos is realised through intermittence.

The Effect of Amino Acids on the Formation of Amorphous Calcium Carbonate Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biomineral formation often proceeds via the assembly of amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) nanoparticles with narrow size distributions. Using in situ SAXS coupled to a stopped‐flow device, we follow synthetic ACC formation with a 10 ms time resolution and show that amino acids narrow the size distribution at low supersaturation, highlighting their key ...

A minimal model for chaotic shear banding in shear-thickening fluids

open access: yes, 2006
We present a minimal model for spatiotemporal oscillation and rheochaos in shear-thickening complex fluids at zero Reynolds number. In the model, a tendency towards inhomogeneous flows in the form of shear bands combines with a slow structural dynamics ...

Viscoelasticity‐Induced Controllable Periodic Meso‐Textures of Liquid Crystal Polymers in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Viscoelasticity‐driven instabilities are harnessed to create tunable, periodic textures in 3D‐printed liquid crystalline polymers. This study illustrates how processing parameters control these spontaneous meso‐scale patterns. These unique structural architectures unlock new possibilities for functional devices, ranging from photonic components to ...

Almost Automorphic Solutions to Abstract Fractional Differential Equations

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2010
A new and general existence and uniqueness theorem of almost automorphic solutions is obtained for the semilinear fractional differential equation , in complex Banach spaces, with Stepanov-like almost automorphic coefficients.

Parameter estimation of power system wideband oscillation based on Zoom FFT and relaxation algorithm

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The widespread use of power electronic devices has resulted in frequent wideband oscillation events, making accurate and rapid parameter estimation critical. However, existing methods face significant challenges in balancing resolution and identification

Spin-dipole oscillation and relaxation of coherently coupled Bose–Einstein condensates

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
We study the static and the dynamic response of coherently coupled two component Bose–Einstein condensates due to a spin-dipole perturbation. The static dipole susceptibility is determined and is shown to be a key quantity to identify the second order ...

Asymptotic behavior of periodic solutions in one-parameter families of Li\'{e}nard equations

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we consider one--parameter ($\lambda>0$) families of Li\'enard differential equations. We are concerned with the study on the asymptotic behavior of periodic solutions for small and large values of $\lambda>0$.

A Biologically‐Architected Wear and Damage‐Resistant Nanoparticle Coating From the Radular Teeth of Cryptochiton stelleri

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The ultrahard teeth of mollusks that feed on rocky substrates contain a wear‐resistant coating on their surfaces consisting of densely packed mesocrystalline magnetic nanoparticles within an organic matrix. These coatings display significant hardness and toughness through their highly controlled mesocrystalline architectures.
