DYNAMICS OF RELAXATION OSCILLATIONS
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2001Relaxation oscillations are characteristic of periodic processes consisting of segments which differ greatly in time: a long-time span when the system is moving slowly and a relatively short time span when the system is moving rapidly. The period of oscillation, the sum of these contributions, is usually treated by singular perturbation theory which ...

Modeling and analysis of a relaxation oscillator
Proceedings of the 2005 European Conference on Circuit Theory and Design, 2005., 2006A nonlinear analysis of the popular emitter-coupled multivibrator is performed, which is based on the classical discontinuity theory. Exact closed-form expressions for predicting the amplitude of relaxation oscillation and its frequency are obtained. Numerical SPICE simulations were performed to check the validity of the above expressions and to show ...

Chemical instabilities and relaxation oscillations [PDF]
Abstract The behaviour of a chemical system beyond a non-equilibrium unstable transition is analysed in the limit of a large separation of time scales characterizing the individual chemical steps. It is found that the system may exhibit in this limit relaxation, or quasi-discontinuous type oscillations.

Dynamics of relay relaxation oscillators
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2001Summary: Relaxation oscillators can usually be represented as a feedback system with hysteresis. The relay relaxation oscillator consists of relay hysteresis and a linear system in feedback. The objective of this work is to study the existence of periodic orbits and the dynamics of coupled relay oscillators.

Relaxation oscillations: Synchronization and chaos
Doklady Physics, 2011The authors present an example of an exothermic reaction, which interacts by means of heat exchange. This problem is investigated by numerical modeling, and the model is described by a system of ordinary differential equations with strongly non-linear sources. The coupling coefficient serves as a bifurcation parameter.

Relaxation of the quantum Brownian oscillator
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1984Summary: The description of a quantum Brownian oscillator based on stochastic quantisation is applied to the non-equilibrium relaxation process. The quantum fluctuation-dissipation theorem is derived in a form which relates only the thermal component of the fluctuations to the response function.
