Relay selection in amplify-and-forward relay networks with frequency selective fading

2012 Conference Record of the Forty Sixth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (ASILOMAR), 2012
We consider relay selection in cooperative relay networks with frequency selective fading, and focus on a system where multiple amplify-and-forward relays share a single channel orthogonal to the source. We propose a relay selection method that achieves the optimal diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) as proven by outage analysis. This relay selection

Relay selection for asynchronous AF relay networks with frequency selective channels

2016 IEEE 17th International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), 2016
In this paper, relay selection schemes in asynchronous multi-relay network for frequency selective channels have been investigated. In particular, distributed Alamouti space time coding and amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying are exploited, and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is implemented with adaptive cyclic prefix (CP) to deal with ...

Opportunistic relaying in multipath and slow fading channel: Relay selection and optimal relay selection period

2011 - MILCOM 2011 Military Communications Conference, 2011
In this paper we present opportunistic relay communication strategies of decode and forward relaying. The channel that we are considering includes pathloss, shadowing, and fast fading effects. We find a simple outage probability formula for opportunistic relaying in the channel, and validate the results by comparing it with the exact outage probability.

Relaying selection based multiple access relay channel

2016 24th Signal Processing and Communication Application Conference (SIU), 2016
Relay selection in case of fast cascade Rayleigh fading channels has been examined in multiple access relay channel structure which is one of the high spectral efficiency network coding applications. Error performance analysis of MARC system has been made for noncoherent binary frequency shift keying (BFSK) and it has been shown that the proposed ...

Relay selection in bidirectional relay communication

2007 IEEE 8th Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications, 2007
We consider the problem of relay selection in a scenario with N relay nodes. A half-duplex relay node enables bidrectional communication between two nodes with a spectral efficient two phase protocol. In the first phase, both nodes transmit a message to a relay node, which decodes the messages and broadcasts a composition in the succeeding phase.

Outdated Relay Selection in Two-Way Relay Network

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2013
In this paper, we consider a two-way relay network (TWRN) with multiple amplify-and-forward (AF) relays, out of which the best one is selected to assist the data communication between two sources. The relay selection is based on the outdated channel state information (CSI), and we study its effect on the system performance in the independent but not ...

Relay selection strategy for parallel relayed FSO systems

2017 IEEE 28th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2017
This paper describes a coherent tree-space optical (FSO) communication system consisting of multiple parallel relays and two terminal nodes. When direct communication between the two terminal nodes of the network is not possible, one relay is selected to establish a dual-hop communication link between them.

Relay Selection for Cooperative Relaying Networks With Small Buffers

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2016
Buffer-aided relaying, which combines relay selection and packet buffering, has recently been studied to mitigate throughput and multiplexing gain loss of two-hop relaying protocols. However, existing buffer-aided relaying schemes require large buffers and a long initialization process for minimizing the outage probability.

On the Capacity of Full-Duplex Relaying with Partial Relay Selection

Wireless Personal Communications, 2013
This paper focus on the full-duplex relaying with partial relay selection. Closed-form expressions for outage and average capacity of a decode-and-forward relay system are derived in an independent but not identically distributed Rayleigh fading environment. The analytical results are compared with the simulated results and a good agreement is obtained.

Triggering and Relay Node Selection for Self-User Relaying

IEEE Communications Letters, 2015
Self-user relaying technology is designed to support multiple self-owned devices especially when wearable devices are becoming more popular. In this letter, with a consideration of power control and discontinuous reception mechanism, a power model and energy metric are derived to analyze self-user relaying performance. Results show that under a typical
