An Efficient Relay Selection Scheme for Relay-assisted HARQ

open access: yesICASSP 2023 - 2023 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2023
In wireless communication networks, relays are required when the quality of the direct link between the source and the destination is not high enough to support reliable transmission because of long distances or obstacles. Selecting the proper relay node (RN) to support hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) is of great importance in such a relay ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Location-Based Relay Selection in Full-Duplex Random Relay Networks

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Full-duplex relay (FDR) has attracted considerable interest in enhancing the performance of relay networks by utilizing resources more efficiently. In this paper, we propose a framework for full-duplex random relay networks (FDRRNs), where relay nodes ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

Energy-aware relay selection for multiuser relay networks [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2012
We consider a dual-hop relay network with multiple source-destination (S-D) pairs and multiple relays, where amplify-and-forward relaying strategy is applied and transmission among S-D pairs takes place simultaneously. Network lifetime in this scenario is defined as the time interval over which successful transmission of all S-D pairs through selected ...

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...
