Reliability-based topology optimization with uncertainties
Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2006This research proposes a reliability-based topology optimization (RBTO) using the finite element method. RBTO is a topology optimization based on probabilistic (or reliability) constraints. Young's modulus, thickness, and loading are considered as the uncertain variables and RBTO is applied to static and eigenvalue problems.

Reliability-Based Topology Optimization of Reinforced Composite Shell
2024 8th International Conference on System Reliability and Safety (ICSRS)In this paper, a reliability-based topology optimization (RBTO) approach is introduced for a composite shell. The RBTO method is divided into deterministic topology optimization and uncertainty analysis by decoupled strategy.

Reliability-based topology optimization considering corrosion
2012 Proceedings Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium, 2012Mechanical engineers always expect to design a structure which could work properly in its whole lifetime. But there exist many random factors, such as dimension, material property and applied forces. Hence structures based on determinate design could fail with high probability.
