Effect of stress relief groove on fretting fatigue strength and index for the selection of optimal groove shape

International Journal of Fatigue, 2009
Abstract The applicability of small stress relief groove for the improvement of fretting fatigue strength was studied. Fretting fatigue tests were done using several kinds of grooved specimens. The shape of groove was systematically changed with parameters of groove radius R and tangential angle θ.

Theoretical investigation of the effect of a relief groove on the performance of a gerotor oil pump

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2018
To improve the performance of a gerotor oil pump used in transmission of an automobile, the effect of adopting a relief groove is investigated using the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) method. The main performance factors of models 1 (without the relief groove) and 2 (with the relief groove) are analyzed and compared with regard to the rotation ...

Study on Effect of Relief Groove Angle Expressing the Position in Reducing Noise of Swash Plate Axial Piston Pump

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
The objective of this paper is to study on the effect of the relief groove angle expressing the position in reducing noise of a swash plate axial piston pump. The relief groove is an important structure for reducing noise. Unfortunately the effect of the position of the relief groove is quite seldom explained in research reports.

Effect of Stress Relief Groove Shape on Fretting Fatigue Strength

Key Engineering Materials, 2007
The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of stress relief groove on fretting fatigue strength. Fretting fatigue tests and finite element analyses were done. The shape of groove was controlled by groove radius R and tangential angle θ. The depth of groove was specified by R and θ.

Propellant Stress Relief Groove for the Titan 4 SRMU

Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1993
Abstract : A method has been developed to design a propellant stress relief groove (SRG) for solid rocket motors. The method considers a time-dependent pressure distribution in both burn-back and 'burn-forward' analyses and allows a desired bondline stress condition to be incorporated into the SRG design. Application of the method to obtain an improved

Design of Stress Relief Groove on a Press-Fitted Assembly

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
The objective of this study is to propose the effective method of reducing the maximum contact pressure at the contact edge of press-fitted shaft by optimizing the location and the size of stress relief groove in hub face. Finite element analysis was performed in order to determine the contact pressure and stress state on a press-fitted assembly and ...
