Ce mémoire d'HDR synthétise les travaux menés de 1983 à 1994 sur les machines à réluctance variable. Ils concernent leur conception intégrant les contraintes de l'électronique de puissance et leurs capteurs d'autopilotage. Ces travaux ont été associés à plusieurs réalisations de prototypes allant de la dizaine de watts à plusieurs dizaines de kilowatts.
