A flow‐through electrochemical membrane reactor equipped with a carbon nanotube membrane eliminates the mass transfer limitation, achieving removals >97.5% for steroid hormone (SH) micropollutants through electrochemical adsorption and degradation, over a broad initial concentration varying from 50 to 106 ng L−1.

Entropy, Dynamics and Instantaneous Normal Modes in a Random Energy Model
It is shown that the fraction f of imaginary frequency instantaneous normal modes (INM) may be defined and calculated in a random energy model(REM) of liquids.

Non-REM and REM/paradoxical sleep dynamics across phylogeny
All animals carefully studied sleep, suggesting that sleep as a behavioral state exists in all animal life. Such evolutionary maintenance of an otherwise vulnerable period of environmental detachment suggests that sleep must be integral in fundamental biological needs.

Sustainable Structural Hot‐Melt Adhesives Enabled by Functionalized Crystalline Lamellae
A high‐performance, recyclable hot‐melt adhesive is developed from renewable materials. It features functional crystalline lamellae that enhance shear strength and enable closed‐loop recycling. The adhesive also provides excellent water and oxygen barrier properties, meeting both sustainability and performance demands for advanced bonding and sealing ...

Calculating excited states of molecular aggregates by the renormalized excitonic method
In this paper, we apply the recently developed ab initio renormalized excitonic method (REM) to the excitation energy calculations of various molecular aggregates, through the extension of REM to the time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT ...

A continuum model for the dynamics of the phase transition from slow-wave sleep to REM sleep [PDF]
Previous studies have shown that activated cortical states (awake and rapid eye-movement (REM) sleep), are associated with increased cholinergic input into the cerebral cortex.

The Geometry of Layer 2/3 Cortical Sound Processing in Slow Wave Sleep
Sleep is associated with a sensory disconnection whose mechanisms remain elusive. Large neuronal population recordings in the auditory cortex revealed that, in NREM sleep, the neural code for sounds is highly similar to wakefulness, but coordinated modulations of neuron responsiveness intermittently disconnect the local cortical networks from sensory ...

The effects of Valerian on sleep spindles in a model of neuropathic pain [PDF]
Introduction: Valeriana officinalis is known to be one of the most famous herbal supplements for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia. Despite its widespread use in most countries all around the world, there is little scientific information and research
