Oriented Magnetite Inclusions in Plagioclase: Implications for the Anisotropy of Magnetic Remanence

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2022
Micron to sub‐micron sized ferromagnetic inclusions in rock forming silicate minerals may give rise to particularly stable remanent magnetizations. When a population of inclusions have a preferred crystallographic or shape orientation in a rock, the ...

Memory effect of Mn$_5$Ge$_3$ nanomagnets embedded inside a Mn-diluted Ge matrix

open access: yes, 2009
Crystalline Mn5Ge3 nanomagnets are formed inside a Mn-diluted Ge matrix using Mn ion implantation. A temperature-dependent memory effect and slow magnetic relaxation are observed below the superparamagnetic blocking temperature of Mn5Ge3.

Analogue video in the age of retrospectacle: Aesthetics, technology, subculture

open access: yesAlphaville: Journal of Film and Screen Media, 2017
This article explores the various manifestations of analogue video in digital culture. Introducing the framing concept of an aesthetics of remanence, it argues that the “society of the spectacle” (Debord) has entered an age of retrospectacle, a ...

Influence of the magnetoelectric coupling on the electric field induced magnetization reversal in a composite non-strained multiferroic chain

open access: yes, 2012
We study theoretically the multiferroic dynamics in a composite one-dimensional system consisting of BaTiO3 multiferroically coupled to an iron chain. The method treats the magnetization and the polarization as thermodynamic quantities describable via a ...

Paleomagnetism, rock magnetism and geochemical aspects of early Cretaceous basalts of the Paraná Magmatic Province, from Misiones, Argentina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The basalts of the Posadas Formation were extruded during the huge continental volcanism that affected the Parana Basin in the Lower Cretaceous. We have carried out a paleomagnetic and rock-magnetic study on samples collected along a basalt outcrop ...

Remanent magnetisation inversion [PDF]

open access: yesASEG Extended Abstracts, 2015
Remanent magnetisation is an important consideration in magnetic interpretation. In some cases failure to properly account for remanence can lead to completely erroneous interpretations. In general the strength and orientation of remanence are unknown. Two main strategies have been pursued for 'unconstrained' inversion of large data sets.

Probing the A1 to L10 Transformation in FeCuPt Using the First Order Reversal Curve Method

open access: yes, 2014
The A1- L10 phase transformation has been investigated in (001) FeCuPt thin films prepared by atomic-scale multilayer sputtering and rapid thermal annealing (RTA).

Magnetic reversal modes in multisegmented nanowire arrays with long aspect ratio

open access: yes, 2015
A detailed numerical analysis of the magnetization reversal processes in multisegmented nanowire arrays was developed. The nanowires have a long aspect ratio and are formed by magnetic and non-magnetic sections alternately arranged in such a way that the

Rémanence de Madame Bovary dans l’édition illustrée

open access: yesFlaubert: Revue Critique et Génétique, 2014
This article focuses on the illustrated editions of Madame Bovary. After Flaubert’s death these editions were popular and multiplied until the end of the 1850’s. They represent a testimony of the novel’s reception by illustrators.

Ferromagnetism in two mouse tumours [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
A variety of living organisms has been found recently that are biochemically able to precipitate the ferromagnetic mineral magnetite (Fe3O4). Originally discovered in the radular teeth of a primitive marine mollusc (Lowenstam, 1962), magnetite has since ...
