Negative remanent magnetization
Journal of Applied Physics, 2014A new model to explore negative remanent magnetization is presented. Recently, a model for magnetic materials that have wasp-waist hysteresis loops was applied to a homogeneous thin film. This model postulated two interacting antiferromagnetically coupled media: one medium with low moment and relatively high coercivity, and one medium with a relatively

Magnetic remanence in single atoms
Science, 2016Stable magnets from single atoms An important goal in molecular magnetism is to create a permanent magnet from a single atom. Metal atoms adsorbed on surfaces can develop strong magnetization in an applied field (paramagnetism). Donati et al.

Remanent magnetization states of soft magnetic nanowires
INTERMAG 2006 - IEEE International Magnetics Conference, 2006Stable magnetization configurations have been obtained for magnetically soft cylindrical nanowire depending on wire diameter, aspect ratio, and material parameters by means of two-dimensional numerical simulation. For a sufficiently long wire there are two stable configurations whose magnetization is twisted near the wire ends with the same or opposite

The magnetic retentivity of many materials is about half of the magnetization at saturation, a fact accounted for by simple domain theory. In some materials, however, the retentivity is only a small fraction of saturation, sometimes less than 10 per cent. The explanation of this fact is discussed.

Evidence which has been accumulating over the past 40 years shows that many species of temperate zone bats migrate and accurately locate their summer roost sites and winter hibernacula. They also home reasonably well when artificially displaced (Griffin, 1970; Baker, 1978).

Abstract Experimental data may be compatible with the hypothesis that a single direction of magnetic remanence rotates as a rigid marker with strains up to 40% shortening in coaxial, perfect flattening ( X = Y > Z ). Detailed agreement with the passive line model is relatively poor for the specimens in which remanance is carried by magnetite ...

Calculation of Magnetic Remanence
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2009This paper outlines a technique for predicting the residual field in magnetizable media after the source is removed. Ship builders are considering the use of dc cables, and many land-based power systems have dc links as a power feed. What will the neighboring steel's remanent field be if the cables are excited with a large current, e.g., under short ...

Oblique anhysteretic remanent magnetization
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1979Orientation of the weak biasing field obliquely, rather than parallel, to the strong alternating field causes an oblique anhysteretic remanent magnetization (OARM) which is systematically misaligned with respect to the bias. Experiments on a deep‐sea sediment also showed that with increasing bias angle the intensity of OARM diminishes greatly, the ...
