Combined application of calcium fertilizer improves the immobilization of biochar-ferromanganese materials on cd/as co-polluted paddy soils under acidifying conditions

open access: yesScientific Reports
Soil acidification is an increasingly serious issue in southern China. A decrease in soil pH tends to interfere with the immobilization of heavy metals by amendments.

Transcriptional Analysis Revealing the Improvement of ε-Poly-L-lysine Production from Intracellular ROS Elevation after Botrytis cinerea Induction

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
Gray mold, caused by Botrytis cinerea, poses significant threats to various crops, while it can be remarkably inhibited by ε-poly-L-lysine (ε-PL). A previous study found that B.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

In vitro gastrointestinal mobilization and oral bioaccessibility of PAHs in contrasting soils and associated cancer risks: Focus on PAH nonextractable residues

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2019
The gastrointestinal mobilization and oral bioaccessibility of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) nonextractable residues (NERs) from soils remain unexplored, including associated incremental lifetime cancer risks.

A Comprehensive Review of the Current Progress of Chromium Removal Methods from Aqueous Solution

open access: yesToxics, 2023
Chromium (Cr) exists in aqueous solution as trivalent (Cr3+) and hexavalent (Cr6+) forms. Cr3+ is an essential trace element while Cr6+ is a dangerous and carcinogenic element, which is of great concern globally due to its extensive applications in ...

Introduction: Remedying Remediation?

open access: yesLeaves, 2019
Some twenty years after Jay David Bolter and David Grusin’s now classic Remediation: Understanding New Media (MIT Press, 1999), this theoretical introduction seeks to question and clarify the contours and stakes of remediation, and to sound the notion anew for productivity, pertinence and potential limits, moving the debates outside the strict ...

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

Effect of electric field frequency on phytoremediation efficiency and properties of Cd-contaminated soil

open access: yesEnvironmental Sciences Europe
Electrochemical-phytoextraction is considered as an integrated technology for removal of Cd in contaminated soil. However, there is a lack of systematic studies on the how electric field frequency plant Cd enrichment and soil microbial properties, which ...

Quantitative impact of manganese fertilizer across different growth stages on simultaneous reduction of soil arsenic and cadmium accumulation in rice grains

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Application of manganese (Mn) fertilizer is a promising strategy to reduce the accumulation of cadmium (Cd) and arsenic (As) in rice grains. However, the quantitative impact of Mn in co-contaminated soils on Cd and As accumulation at different growth ...
