The Abrasive and Remineralising Efficacy of Coturnix Eggshell

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal, 2022
The objective of this research was to determine the abrasive and remineralising efficacy of quail eggshell (Coturnix coturnix) incorporated into a new experimental toothpaste. An experimental study was designed to compare the surface microhardness of the dental enamel of bovine lateral incisors exposed to different toothpastes.

Resin-Based Sealant with Bioactive Glass and Zwitterionic Material for Remineralisation and Multi-Species Biofilm Inhibition

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
Since pits and fissures are the areas most commonly affected by caries due to their structural irregularity, bioactive resin-based sealant (RBS) may contribute to the prevention of secondary caries. This study aims to investigate the mechanical, physical,

Ti6Al4V‐Bioglass‐Copper Composites for Load‐Bearing Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have designed and manufactured a novel Ti64‐based composite by adding 45S5 bioglass (BG) and copper (Cu). Adding BG on titanium improves wear resistance and biocompatibility, whereas Cu addition improves mechanical strength while providing inherent lifelong bacterial resistance.

Integrated Flexible Zwitterionic Electrochemical Sensor Platform for Real‐Time Salivary Glucose Quantification

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
A flexible electrochemical sensor platform can enable continuous, real‐time monitoring of salivary glucose for applications confined to spaces such as the oral cavity. Surface modifications with Prussian blue, chitosan, and zwitterionic polymers enhance sensitivity, selectivity, and antiadherent performance.

Human Atlas of Tooth Decay Progression: Identification of Cellular Mechanisms Driving the Switch from Dental Pulp Repair Toward Irreversible Pulpitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tooth decay progression transforms the dental pulp response from repair to fibrosis. At early stages, stromal cells reprogram to repair the extra cellular matrix (ECM), blood vessels, and nerves, remodel and grow, keeping repair possible. In advanced decay, hypoxia, and vessel regression, in complement with an immune switch, fuel nerve degeneration and

Medical Model in Caries Management

open access: yesDentistry Journal, 2019
The current mode of dental caries management mainly operates through irreversible and symptomatic treatment by means of drilling and filling, while caries prevention is largely overlooked or omitted.
