Hidden Diradical: Conformational Switch for Solvatochromic NIR Emission With Unity Quantum Yield in Thiele's Hydrocarbon

Halogen substitution controls a conformational switch between a folded closed‐shell and a flat singlet‐diradical conformer in an air‐stable Thiele‐diradical. This conformational switch allows for near‐unity photoluminescence quantum yield with a large Stokes shift, solvatochromism, and a long‐lived excited state.

Tetraaza[7]–[15]helicenes Synthesized by Two‐Step Strategy: Length‐Controlled Chiral π‐Systems Exhibiting Amplified Circularly Polarized Luminescence

A modular two‐step strategy provides tetraaza[n]helicenes (n = 7–15) as a homologous series with tunable photophysical and chiroptical properties. Extension beyond n = 11 induces pronounced through‐space π–π interactions, narrowing the energy gap and amplifying circularly polarized luminescence.

Arylhydrazines: Convenient Homogeneous Reductants for Scalable Cross‐Coupling

Reductive cross‐couplings enable efficient C–C bond formation but are limited by the heterogeneity of Zn or costly reagents like TDAE. We report arylhydrazines as inexpensive, convenient reductants for Ni‐catalyzed sp2–sp3 coupling of aryl halides and secondary alkyl iodides. Mechanistic studies support hydrazine‐mediated NiII reduction for a NiI/NiIII
