Early metastasis is characterized by Gr1+ cell dysregulation and is inhibited by immunomodulatory nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.

Comparative Study Between Dispersive and Non-Dispersive Dielectric Permittivity in Spectral Remittances of Chiral Sculptured Zirconia Thin Films [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Commun 281 3120(2008), 2010
The transmission and reflection spectra from a right-handed chiral sculptured zirconia thin film are calculated using the piecewise homogeneity approximation method and the Bruggeman homogenization formalism by considering that the propagation of both dispersive and non-dispersive dielectric function occurs for axial and non-axial states.

Are Bilateral Remittances Countercyclical? [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Economies Review, 2010
By putting together a relatively large data set on bilateral remittances of emigrants, this paper is able to shed light on the important hypothesis of smoothing. The smoothing hypothesis is that remittances are countercyclical with respect to income in the worker’s country of origin (the recipient of the remittance), while procyclical with respect to ...
