Developing Control and Monitoring Software for the Data Acquisition System of the COMPASS Experiment at CERN

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2013
This paper focuses on the analysis, design and development of software for the new data acquisition system of the COMPASS experiment at CERN. In this system, the data flow is controlled by custom hardware; the software will therefore be used only for run

Soft Magnetic Artificial Muscles with High Work Density and Actuation Strain via Dual Cross‐Linking Design

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐performance magnetic composite actuator that integrates covalent and reversible physical cross‐links within a stiffness‐tunable polymer matrix embedded with functionalized magnetic particles is presented. The actuator exhibits programmable magnetic responsiveness, a stiffness switching ratio of 1.37 × 103, stretchability up to 1274%, large ...

High‐Spatiotemporal‐Resolution Transparent Thermoelectric Temperature Sensor Arrays Reveal Temperature‐Dependent Windows for Reversible Photothermal Neuromodulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermoelectric temperature sensors are developed that directly measure heat changes during optical‐based neural stimulation with millisecond precision. The sensors reveal the temperature windows for safe reversible neural modulation: 1.4–4.5 °C enables reversible neural inhibition, while temperatures above 6.1 °C cause permanent thermal damage.
