Imaging Spectrometry for Earth Remote Sensing

Science, 1985
Imaging spectrometry, a new technique for the remote sensing of the earth, is now technically feasible from aircraft and spacecraft. The initial results show that remote, direct identification of surface materials on a picture-element basis can be accomplished by proper sampling of absorption features in the reflectance spectrum.

Retrieving Images for Remote Sensing Applications

2006
A unique way in which content based image retrieval (CBIR) for remote sensing differs widely from traditional CBIR is the widespread occurrences of weak textures. The task of representing the weak textures becomes even more challenging especially if image properties like scale, illumination or the viewing geometry are not known.

Digital Image Processing in Remote Sensing

2009 Tutorials of the XXII Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing, 2009
Imaging systems, particularly those on board satellites, provide a repetitive and consistent view of the earth that has been used in many remote sensing applications such as urban growth, deforestation and crop monitoring, weather prediction, land use mapping, land cover mapping and so on.

An Indexing Model of Remote Sensing Images

2004
This paper is concerned with the problem of indexing remote sensing images. This kind of images has a semantics mainly related to the image spectral properties. For these reasons the spectral properties can be considered as effective image descriptors.

Compressed Sensing of a Remote Sensing Image Based on the Priors of the Reference Image

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2015
Basic compressed-sensing algorithms for image reconstructions mainly deal with the computation of sparse regularization. Remote sensing applications often have multisource or multitemporal images whose different components are acquired separately. Therefore, this letter considers the reconstruction of a remote sensing image using an auxiliary image ...

A New Remote Sensing Image Dataset for Large-Scale Remote Sensing Detection

2019 IEEE International Conference on Real-time Computing and Robotics (RCAR), 2019
With recent developments in sensor technology, remote sensing is playing an increasingly important role in military and civilian life such as town planning, mapping, resource and crop monitoring, and disaster prevention. These applications are based on remote sensing images, which ideally comprehensively reflect the information needed.

Remote-sensing image analysis and geostatistics

International Journal of Remote Sensing, 2012
The random function theory forms the basis of geostatistics and allows modelling of the uncertainty associated with spatial estimation and simulation. Remote sensing involves gathering information about an object by measuring signals composed of radiation, particles and fields emanating from an object with a sensor that is not in direct contact with it.

UAV Remote Sensing Image Stitching

2019
The majority of image stitching (include UAV remote sensing images stitching) models are homography matrix transformation function, which could effectively simulate the rigid transformation of 2D images in 3D coordinate system. In order to prevent the accumulation of alignment errors (drift) and the projection distortion in the multi-image stitching ...

An automatic image registration for applications in remote sensing

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2005
This paper deals with a major problem encountered in the area of remote sensing consisting of the registration of multitemporal and/or multisensor images. In general, such images have different gray-level characteristics, and simple techniques such as those based on correlation cannot be applied directly.
