A 57-year-old woman with an extensive cardiac history presented complaining of left flank pain. An intravenous pyelogram performed for the presumptive diagnosis of renal calculus showed poor function of the left kidney. Angiography demonstrated a 95% obstructing embolus in the left renal artery, which was removed surgically.

RENAL ARTERY EMBOLIZATION FOR BENIGN OBSTRUCTIVE UROPATHY
Journal of Urology, 2001We demonstrate safety of renal artery embolization as an alternative to nephrectomy in symptomatic patients with obstructed, poorly functioning kidneys who are unfit for surgery. We performed renal artery embolization in 2 medically unfit patients with benign obstructive uropathy and poorly functioning kidneys.

Therapeutic Ureteral Obstruction and Renal Artery Embolization
Journal of Urology, 1975Two relatively unique techniques have been used in 4 cases to treat gross hematuria that might otherwise have resulted in nephrectomies. The techniques include ureteral obstruction with a Fogarty catheter and renal artery embolization.

RENAL ARTERY THROMBOSIS SECONDARY TO URETERAL OBSTRUCTION
Journal of Urology, 1999Nephrolithiasis in patients with a solitary kidney can cause obstructive anuria. However, to our knowledge we report the first case of renal artery bypass graft thrombosis after acute ureteral obstruction in a solitary functioning kidney presenting with anuria. We propose that myogenically mediated renal artery hypoperfusion secondary to acute ureteral

Obstruction of the Abdominal Aorta Above the Level of the Renal Arteries
Radiology, 1964Obstruction of the abdominal aorta is an almost commonplace diagnosis today. Most of the cases reported in the literature occur in the lower aorta, particularly at the bifurcation (3). There have been many examples of aortic occlusion at the level of the renal arteries, but in most instances these were secondary to a “Leriche“ type of atherosclerotic ...

Renal Arterial Duplex Doppler Ultrasound in Dogs with Urinary Obstruction
Journal of Urology, 1991Recent clinical studies using duplex Doppler sonography identified an alteration in renal arterial blood flow in obstructed hydronephrotic kidneys that reportedly can be used to distinguish obstructive from nonobstructive collecting system dilatation.

Abstract A case of unilateral renal artery obstruction, associated with malignant hypertension, is reported. The ischemic kidney showed a massive recent infarct, but was otherwise normal. The striking similarity of this case to results of animal experiments is pointed out.

Late Perirenal Lymphocele Causing Ureteral and Arterial Obstruction in Renal Transplant Patients
Journal of Urology, 1975The 3 cases reported herein reveal the problem of chronic lymphoceles in the transplant patient. Surgical correction of the obstruction to the renal artery or ureter is greatly facilitated by the recognition of this clinical entity and the use of intraoperative radiographic studies to distinguish these pseudoencapsulated cysts from the true renal ...

Anuria Secondary to Renal Artery Obstruction in a Solitary Kidney: 9-year Followup
Journal of Urology, 1978A patient with a prior nephrectomy for renovascular hypertension experienced complete anuria secondary to renal artery occlusion. Revascularization 75 hours later resulted in prompt diuresis, recovery of renal function and a 9-year survival. Serial preoperative renal function studies are presented.
