The Technique in Renal Biopsy

Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Nephrology, 1969
Some views are given on the choice of biopsy technique in different clinical conditions. In arterial hypertension, renal biopsy is performed after normalization of the blood pressure. In uraemia due to contracted kidneys, biopsy should be done with a surgical technique.

Renal Mass Biopsy

Techniques in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2021
Kidney cancer accounts for 2% of cancer related deaths. Historically, a patient with a solid renal mass would undergo surgery without biopsy given the previously low diagnostic yield of biopsy and the fear of tumor seeding. This led to a high rate of resection for benign masses.

Renal biopsy in the pig

Research in Veterinary Science, 1975
In the pig, needle renal biopsy proved a safe and simple procedure which caused little discomfort to the animal. It proved a valuable method for following serial changes in renal histology and can therefore be applied to the study of both spontaneous and experimental renal diseases in pigs.

Renal biopsy in hyperaldosteronism

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1964
Abstract A patient with primary aldosteronism is presented. Renal biopsy in this patient showed no increase in granules of the juxtaglomerular cells. In contrast, hypergranular juxtaglomerular cells as an indication of increased renin secretion have been observed in the kidneys of patients with secondary aldosteronism.
