Renal Biopsy in Children

open access: yesIndian Pediatrics, 2020
Renal biopsy is an important investigation to make the diagnosis of an underlying glomerular or tubular disease, and is commonly done by trained pediatricians. In this review, we discuss the procedure and also detail important points in interpretation of renal biopsy in children.

Transjugular renal biopsy in high-risk patients: an American case series

open access: yesBMC Nephrology, 2002
Background In the United States, transjugular renal biopsies using the Quickcore™ side cut needle system have previously been described primarily for transjugular renal biopsy in patients with concurrent liver and kidney disease.

Real world outcomes of biopsy‐proven oncocytic neoplasm of the kidney managed by surveillance

open access: yesBJUI Compass, 2022
Objectives To evaluate outcomes of patients diagnosed with oncocytic renal neoplasms on routine renal mass biopsy and to describe the natural history of these tumours when managed with surveillance as opposed to immediate intervention.

Percutaneous Native Renal Biopsy Adequacy: A Successful Interdepartmental Quality Improvement Activity

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Kidney Health and Disease, 2015
Background: An adequate renal biopsy is essential for diagnosis and treatment of medical renal disease. Objective: We evaluated two initiatives to improve adequacy of renal biopsy samples at our centre. Design: Retrospective determination of renal biopsy

Effect of Proteinuria and Glomerular Filtration Rate on Renal Outcome in Patients with Biopsy-Proven Benign Nephrosclerosis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
BACKGROUND:Reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and proteinuria are risk factors for end-stage renal disease (ESRD), of which benign nephrosclerosis is a common cause.

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Evaluation and modification of tumor cell isolation techniques from malignant effusions for rapid drug sensitivity testing

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐small cell lung cancer targeted treatment is limited to a few known genetic alterations, with few alternatives in advanced treatment lines. To direct treatment decisions by drug sensitivity testing (DST), this study compared several methods for tumor cell isolation from malignant effusions, pointing to repeated CD45+ cell depletion for effective ...
