Adaptive Antioxidant Nanomedicines Inhibit Ferroptosis in Renal Tubular Epithelial Cells to Alleviate Diabetic Kidney Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, an adaptive antioxidant nanodrug (AAN) is developed through the self‐polymerization of L‐selenocysteine. The AAN exhibits dual functionalities: antioxidant activity (scavenging reactive oxygen species) and mitochondrial targeting. Moreover, the released selenium (Se) participates in the synthesis of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), which

Type 2 Diabetes‐Associated Phenylacetylglutamine Induces Deleterious Inflammation Cycle in Myeloid Cells through β2 Adrenergic Receptors and Impedes Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The microbiota‐derived metabolite phenylacetylglutamine (PAGln) is elevated in type 2 diabetes and tightly associated with poor healing in both diabetic and non‐diabetic human patients. PAGln promotes mouse inflammation and impairs healing through a transmissible β2‐adrenergic receptor–mediated trained‐immunity loop.

Reversible Fluindione-Induced Chronic Interstitial Nephritis

open access: yesCase Reports in Nephrology, 2016
Fluindione is well known to induce acute drug-induced interstitial nephritis (IN). Most cases occurred soon after the onset of treatment. We report a unique case of severe subacute fluindione-induced IN diagnosed 2 years after the treatment was begun ...

Divergent Delivery and Expression Kinetics of Lipid and Polymeric Nanoparticles across mRNA Modalities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Self‐amplifying (saRNA), linear (linRNA), and circular (circRNA) mRNAs are compared under standardized conditions using lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) and pABOL polymer. saRNA achieved superior expression, while linRNA and circRNA performance varied based on untranslated region elements and delivery method.

The Multidisciplinary Approach to Renal Denervation: Current Evidences and Open Questions [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Medical Journal Nephrology, 2014
Renal denervation (RD) is a new clinical procedure which aims to treat resistant hypertensive patients. As with every new technology introduced into the clinical setting, many aspects were not explored sufficiently in order to be implemented into routine
