Alemtuzumab preconditioning with tacrolimus monotherapy - The impact of serial monitoring for donor-specific antibody [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
BACKGROUND. Antibody preconditioning with tacrolimus monotherapy has allowed many renal allograft recipients to be maintained on spaced weaning. METHODS.

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Presence of transient hydronephrosis immediately after surgery has a limited influence on renal function 1 year after ileal neobladder construction

open access: yesBMC Urology, 2017
Background Urinary tract obstruction and postoperative hydronephrosis are risk factor for renal function deterioration after orthotopic ileal neobladder construction.

Inference and Prediction Using Functional Principal Components Analysis: Application to Diabetic Kidney Disease Progression in the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) Study [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Repeated longitudinal measurements are commonly used to model long-term disease progression, and timing and number of assessments per patient may vary, leading to irregularly spaced and sparse data. Longitudinal trajectories may exhibit curvilinear patterns, in which mixed linear regression methods may fail to capture true trends in the data.

Intraoperative hyperglycemia augments ischemia reperfusion injury in renal transplantation: a prospective study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background. Diabetes is a risk factor for delayed graft function in kidney transplantation, and hyperglycemia increases ischemia reperfusion injury in animal models. Methods.

Cerebral Small Vessel Disease and Renal Function: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

open access: yesCerebrovascular Diseases, 2014
Background: The small vessel disease (SVD) that appears in the brain may be part of a multisystem disorder affecting other vascular beds such as the kidney and retina. Because renal failure is associated with both stroke and white matter hyperintensities

Landscape of BRAF transcript variants in human cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigate the annotation of BRAF variants, focusing on protein‐coding BRAF‐220 (formerly BRAF‐reference) and BRAF‐204 (BRAF‐X1). The IsoWorm pipeline allows us to quantify these variants in human cancer, starting from RNA‐sequencing data. BRAF‐204 is more abundant than BRAF‐220 and impacts patient survival.

Trends and predictors of changes in renal function after radical nephrectomy for renal tumours

open access: yesBMC Nephrology
Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common postoperative complication in patients who undergo radical nephrectomy for renal tumours. However, the factors influencing long-term renal function require further investigation.

Effect of intraoperative fluid optimisation on renal function in patients undergoing emergency abdominal surgery; a randomised controlled pilot study (ISRCTN 11799696) Fluid optimisation for emergency surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
<b>Background:</b> Emergency abdominal surgery carries a high risk of postoperative morbidity and mortality. Goal directed therapy has been advocated to improve outcome in high-risk surgery.
