Laboratory Tests of Renal Function

CRC Critical Reviews in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, 1976
There are several tests available to evaluate renal function. Because the kidney has such complex and varied functions, no one test can adequately measure them. A rough measure of renal function can be obtained by examining the constituents of the urine. More specific aspects of tubular and glomerular function require more complex tests.

Renal Function Tests

1976
This chapter discusses the renal function tests. The kidneys are the primary organs involved in the excretion of waste products; the other organs involved being the lungs, skin, and intestines. In the urinary system, there are two kidneys that form and secrete urine by peristalsis; it is conveyed from each kidney through a ureter to the urinary bladder.
