POSTOPERATIVE RENAL INSUFFICIENCY
Medical Clinics of North America, 2001The poor clinical outcomes associated with postoperative HARI necessitate increased vigilance for HARI detection and intervention to minimize the progression to dialysis dependency. Patient survival significantly worsens if HARI requires the initiation of dialysis.

Hirudin In Renal Insufficiency
Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, 2002Recombinant hirudins (r-hirudins) are potent direct thrombin inhibitors increasingly used for alternative anticoagulation, especially in heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. R-hirudins are almost exclusively eliminated by the kidneys, and a close correlation between r-hirudin clearance and endogenous creatinine clearance has been observed.

Atracurium and Pancuronium in Renal Insufficiency
Survey of Anesthesiology, 1989The duration and possible accumulation of atracurium and pancuronium were studied in 59 patients (29 anephric and 30 normal) anaesthetized with 0.5% halothane in O2/N2O and supplemented by fentanyl. Equipotent doses of atracurium (0.5 mg–kg‐1) and pancuronium (0.1 mg–kg‐1) were given for intubation.

Digitalis in Chronic Renal Insufficiency
Blood Purification, 1985Cardiac dysfunction is common in patients with terminal renal failure. However, no consensus has been reached with respect to the indications for digitalis therapy. Depression of myocardial contractility may occur as a result of circulating toxic factors, parathyroid hormone, and altered catecholaminergic responsiveness.

The pharmacokinetics of losartan in renal insufficiency
Journal of Hypertension, 1995To determine the effect of renal insufficiency on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of losartan (MK-954) and its metabolite E3174.A two-center, unblinded trial was performed in 18 patients (age range 31-63 years) with various degrees of renal function grouped according to the renal clearance of creatinine: group I, creatinine clearance > or ...

Exophthalmus in Chronic Renal Insufficiency
Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Nephrology, 1971The present results show that exophthalmus is a common symptom in chronic renal insufficiency. Thus, contrary to the norm, 19 (67%) of 28 clinically euthyroid, chronic dialysis patients displayed increased Hertel values. Tests of thyroid function in these patients indicated a reduced thyroxine-binding capacity of the serum protein and, in some cases, a
