EXTRACORPOREAL RENAL SURGERY FOR RENAL STONE DISEASE [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
We report 2 cases in which extracorporeal renal surgery was successful for complicated staghorn calculi, and demonstrate its usefulness from biochemical and histological studies on hypothermia in the ischemic kidney of rats. The technique and indications

The Use of Combination Palliative Radiotherapy and Single‐Agent Immunotherapy for the Management of Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC) in the United Kingdom (UK)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Clinical data on combined Immunotherapy (IO) and palliative radiotherapy (RT) in HNSCC is scarce. HNSCC Palliative RT differs from curative intent RT as it does not involve elective nodal irradiation; therefore, an immune response may be more likely.

The Endothelial CXCR Family in Vascular Health and Disease

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Endothelial cells (ECs) form the dynamic interface between blood and tissue, serving as key regulators of vascular homeostasis, inflammation, and repair. Among the molecular systems governing endothelial behavior, the C‐X‐C motif chemokine receptor (CXCR) family—originally characterized in immunology for its roles in leukocyte trafficking and ...

Tofacitinib Regulates β‐Catenin Nuclear Translocation to Inhibit FLS Migration and Alleviate Clinical Symptoms of RA

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Tofacitinib is a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor approved for the treatment of moderate‐to‐severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, its synovium‐related molecular mechanisms, particularly its regulatory effect on fibroblast‐like synoviocyte (FLS) migration, remain incompletely understood.

Clusterin elaborated by renal tubular epithelial cells under high oxalate stress serves as a matrix protein to facilitate kidney stone formation

open access: yesCellular and Molecular Life Sciences
Calcium oxalate (CaOx) kidney stone is prevalent while the molecular mechanisms are not yet fully understood. The organic matrix of stones is rich in protein and has been considered to play a important role in stone aggregation and growth.

Mapping the Landscape of Over‐Scanning in CT Imaging: A Scoping Review

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
Over‐scanning in CT is highly prevalent and contributes to unnecessary radiation exposure, with notable impact on radiosensitive organs. Standardised protocols and AI‐assisted planning show strong potential to optimise scan range and reduce excess dose.

Right renal stone on the trajectory of upper left ureter

open access: yes, 2006
We report a 52-year-old woman with a right renal pelvic stone, mimicking a left upper ureteral stone in a kidney-ureter-bladder film. Computed tomography detected the exact anatomical location of the stone, which was not possible by intravenous urography
