Leiomyosarcoma of renal vein

Urology, 1991
Leiomyosarcomas arising from the renal vein are rare tumors: only 13 cases are found in the literature. We report a case in a sixty-one-year-old woman who presented with back pain and hematuria. At the hilum the segmental branches of the right renal artery were sandwiched between the two veins.

Renal Vein Compression

Journal of Urology, 1977
Duodenal compression by the superior mesenteric artery is the postulated cause of the superior mesenteric artery syndrome. Our case, as well as 2 other cases of renal vein compression reported in the literature, suggests that this is uncommon but should occur more frequently in this syndrome because it is anatomically as vulnerable to compression.

Leiomyosarcoma of the renal vein

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 1996
The preoperative diagnosis for primary leiomyosarcoma of the renal vein, an extremely rare tumor, is difficult. The tumor predominantly occurs in women and on the left side. Its natural history is toward distant metastases and a poor 5-year survival rate. Nephrectomy and en-bloc surgical resection remain the mainstay of therapy.

The Left Renal Vein
