Normal map recovery using bundle adjustment

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2014
Although modern reconstruction methods have advanced considerably, their ability to retrieve fine details, small features of a surface is limited. Applying texture can be used to conceal lack of geometry to some extent, but it becomes apparent when ...

Practical BRDF reconstruction using reliable geometric regions from multi-view stereo

open access: yesComputational Visual Media, 2019
In this paper, we present a practical method for reconstructing the bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) from multiple images of a real object composed of a homogeneous material.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tension and Contention in the Translation of the Literary Text: The Real Dilemma [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Philosophy, Social and Human Disciplines, 2016
Does translation of the literary text really need a theory? If yes which one among so many, which complicate more than simplify the matter? Which strategy do we adopt to at least communicate something of the original to a target reader, who does not know

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Rendered Inoperable

open access: yesA Peer-Reviewed Journal About, 2018
Today the algorithmic moves off the white- board and into the world, producing subjectivities, articulating relationships, and shaping behaviours. Yet to obtain its objectives, the algorithmic must draw upon bodies, flows, and materials — matter which is contentious and agents which have their own intentionalities.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

ACADEMIC WRITING AND ITS DEVELOPMENT IN RUSSIA: GENRE APPROACH

open access: yesВысшее образование в России, 2018
While in Anglo-American universities the course traditionally called as “English Composition” has been in the curriculum for a long time, in Russia “Academic Writing” has been actively developing only for the last 10–15 years.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
