Role of Metal Contacts on Halide Perovskite Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 33, Issue 47, November 16, 2023., 2023
Halide perovskites are electronic/ionic conductors used as resistive memories. The role of the metal contacts is unveiled by using metals with different reactivities. It is shown that metals need to be oxidized electrochemically in situ and this oxidized species can follow the applied electrical field to generate the conductive filaments.

Prioritizing species conservation programs based on IUCN Green Status and estimates of cost‐sharing potential

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 3, June 2023., 2023
Abstract Over 1 million species around the world are at risk of extinction, and conservation organizations have to decide where to invest their limited resources. Cost‐effectiveness can be increased by leveraging funding opportunities and increasing collaborative partnerships to achieve shared conservation goals. We devised a structured decision‐making

Global coordination of wheat sowing: A possible policy against climate variability

open access: yesWorld Food Policy, Volume 9, Issue 1, Page 6-27, May 2023., 2023
Abstract Through an analysis of the sowing and harvesting times across all the regions of a tailored‐for‐wheat world geographic partition, we assess the temporal possibility of modifying the acreage of wheat crops in some regions in an attempt to offset the change in production caused by the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) in the others.

Complementarity of additionalities resulting from European Union funds: Perspective of the users of research infrastructures

open access: yesReview of Policy Research, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 307-331, March 2023., 2023
Abstract The goal of this paper is to investigate the complementarity of three types of additionalities: input (growth of R&D investments), behavioral (changes in the internal processes of the entity), and output (leveraging social or private returns), occurring as the result of the 7th Framework Programme and Horizon 2020 European Union funds part ...

Soluciones relacionadas con el entorno alimentario para prevenir la obesidad infantil en América Latina y en la población latina que vive en Estados Unidos

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 22, Issue S5, Octubre 2021., 2021

Assessing the camera trap methodologies used to estimate density of unmarked populations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 58, Issue 8, Page 1583-1592, August 2021., 2021
Our results show that all of the methods examined can work well, with each having particular strengths and weaknesses. Broadly, Random Encounter and Staying Time (REST) could be recommended in scenarios of high abundance, Distance Sampling with camera traps (CT‐DS) in those of low abundance while Random Encounter Model (REM) can be recommended when ...

An inexpensive, 3D‐printable breast muscle meter for field ornithologists

open access: yesJournal of Field Ornithology, Volume 92, Issue 1, Page 67-76, March 2021., 2021
Abstract The size of the pectoral muscle is an important component of body condition in birds and has been linked to indices of fitness and migratory performance. Bauchinger et al. (2011. Journal of Ornithology 152: 507–514) developed, calibrated, and validated an aluminum “muscle meter” device that estimates the size of pectoral muscles noninvasively.

Prioritizing debt conversion opportunities for marine conservation

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 34, Issue 5, Page 1065-1075, October 2020., 2020
Abstract Incentivized debt conversion is a financing mechanism that can assist countries with a heavy debt burden to bolster their long‐term domestic investment in nature conservation. The Nature Conservancy, an international conservation‐based nongovernmental organization, is adapting debt conversions to support marine conservation efforts by small ...

Radiomics approach to distinguish between well differentiated liposarcomas and lipomas on MRI

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), Volume 106, Issue 13, Page 1800-1809, December 2019., 2019
The distinction between well differentiated liposarcomas and lipomas is needed in order to provide the correct treatment approach for patients with these tumours, but is difficult to make without a biopsy. This study shows that radiomics can be used to make this distinction based on routinely obtained MRI. The resulting radiomics model performed better
